Even the best & most expensive lipstick in the world can look like crap if you have dry, chapped lips, especially those matte formulas that are darn difficult to make it look flawless. I’ve included lip scrubs in my daily regiment (my lips are not fragile for a daily treatment but I would suggest you start with 2-3 times/week) for a while now. When I wash my face at night, I use a little bit of the scrub then GENTLY apply it on my lips with circular motion and then rinse (and who am I kidding, I always taste it a little bit since it’s so good). I follow it up with my favourite lip balm to get that moisture in there and in the morning I have the smoothest beautiful lips (I suspect beard man to secretly use it too) !!!
You will need…
♥ 1 1/2 teaspoon of granulated white sugar
♥ 1 teaspoon of coconut oil
♥ 1 little drop of vanilla extract (I also use lemon, anis, almond, orange, cinnamon or when it’s one of those week, rhum food extracts)
♥ A small container
Mix all the ingredients together and put in the small container of your choice. Two or three times/week, rub the scrub onto your lips, gently enough to loosen the dead skin. Let it sit for 30 seconds, and then wipe off with a damp washcloth. Apply your favorite lip balm after use.
I did purchase the Fresh “Sugar Lip Polish” & Lush “lip scrub in Co-Ho-Ho-Ho-La” and don’t get me wrong, they are both good; but I honestly do prefer the one I make myself at a fraction of the cost (maybe 0,10$ per recipe!!!). I always bring some to my friends and family members; I just buy some cute little containers and I put cute ribbons around and voilà! Since it has become so addictive to many of them, I will need, at some point, to start a factory if everyone keeps asking for more 😉
Note: To be FDA proof, I will tell you that since it’s food-related, you should keep it in the fridge for up to a week, and just scrub your body with the left over !!! That being said, for me personally, I keep it for a month in my bathroom with no problem. I mostly just make another recipe when I want to change the flavor. NO FOOD COLORING even if you are tempted, it will stain your lips like crazy (not a good look or would it!!!)…
I hope you try it & love this homemade scrub as much as I do…
Thanks for Stopping by my Beauties
