I was anxious to try this sucker. If you remember, Smashbox has sent everybody and their mother this “primer water” and of course, everyone was raving about this product. After this, it was ABH liquid lipstick, Makeup Geek foiled eyeshadows, Cover Fx drops (I hope some of you are smiling right now!!!). The marketing (products) exposure was very obvious … Unfortunately because I’ve been burned in the past, I don’t trust the big “Beauty Gurus” anymore (Don’t throw stones at me, there is some exceptions).
Since I try to be more careful about my purchases, I research a bit more and not to be cheesy I read posts (Go bloggers Go) or l Iisten to YouTubers who have less than 50 000 followers.
Enough blabbering let’s do this review:
Product description: (From Smashbox website)
Get the benefits of priming, hydration, and sheer radiance with this all-in-one Photo Finish Primer Water. Free of silicone, alcohol, and oil, it’s packed with revitalizing electrolytes that work to reawaken skin and restore moisture. This enriched water instantly absorbs into skin for lasting hydration, leaving skin looking refreshed and ultrasoft while it locks in makeup.
The GOOD :
♥ No alcohol and no oil; for somebody like myself who has a very acne prone skin type this is a must. (It didn’t cause any breakouts yay!)
♥ Love the smell, very refreshing (delicate and subtle).
♥ It really helped my foundation look dewy and fresh. (Perfect for hot summer days, I put mine in the fridge for a more cooling effect !!!)
♥ Somehow it really hydrates my skin really well.
The Not so GOOD:
♥ Pricey ($$$) 32$US (37$CND) for 3,9oz.
♥ It doesn’t work well for filling in pores, if it’s what you are looking for. (I myself add a pore minimizer just on my nose area where I have some enlarged pores)
If you’re looking to smooth out fine lines and hide pores, this isn’t the best product for that purpose. If you’re looking for a quick fix that will hydrate, prep your skin for all-day makeup wear or use it to refresh your makeup, this water might just be your new best friend. But in the end, it’s a good facial mist with a hefty price tag that I don’t regret buying whatsoever … Time will tell if I buy a second bottle.
So for the question: Really worth the hype? Yes and No … It’s not the best for priming the skin that’s a given, but I prefer this water compare to Urban Decay’s All Nighter as a makeup setting spray. It’s perfect for summer months, and NO I don’t consider it like FANCY water as some have stated.
Hope it was helpful my beauties
