Hey guys! This is Trysh from over at Prairie Beauty Love and I’m super excited to be guest posting here on Ingrid’s blog today as a part of the Canadian Beauty Bloggers Network with the them of Plum. For me, fall is all about rich shades and my absolute favorite fall trend to default to every year is a deep plum lip. I chose three of my favorite drugstore priced options to feature, all with different formats and finishes, because I think you really can get a great plum lip from the drugstore. That said, take a look at the bottom of this post for a few more Honorable Mentions!
Milani Color Statement Lipstick in 21 Sangria
For me, this is one of the best traditional lipstick formulas in the drugstore… except that they have a scent that you’re either going to love or hate. Admittedly, I don’t like the smell at all, but I love this lipstick so much that I’m willing to push through the smell pain in order to wear it. This is a very creamy formula, but it runs a little bit dryer than some other cream formulas. However, I think that’s part of what makes this a winner for me, because it really doesn’t move and I can even wear it without a lip liner and I don’t have to worry about it traveling. This isn’t a drying lipstick at all, but I wouldn’t go so far as to say that it’s moisturizing. It’s very comfortable on the lips and has very, very good wear time. Take a sniff before you buy it, but if the smell doesn’t bother you I don’t think you’ll find anything else not to like about this lipstick.
L.A. Girl Glazed Lip Paint in GLG797 Daring
This product is pretty much completely different from the previous one in pretty much every way. This liquid lipstick (which I’ve seen compared to the OCC Lip Tars, though I don’t think they’re dupes at all) is incredibly creamy and pigmented, so you do have to be careful when you’re working with it – especially when it comes to this deep, vibrant shade. This has a sort of vanilla mint scent and a slightly tingly feel on the lips. As its name implies, it’s got a very glossy finish to it, though I do find that you can blot it down to a flatter finish that’s a little more managable on the lips. You have to be very careful applying this and I would absolutely recommend a lip liner to help fight bleeding. All of that said, this is a really beautiful shade that is really great for this time of year.
NYC City Proof Twistable Intense Lip Color in 031 Gramercy Park Plum
I was really, really surprised when I first decided to give this lip crayon a go. I didn’t really have high hopes for it, but it completely blew me out of the water. Though the formula is definitely the most sheer of the three I’m mentioning here, it is still really pigmented and full colour. The chubby format makes it really easy to apply and I find it really good for on the go. There is definitely some balmy type moisture to this product, which makes it quite comfortable on the lips. The scent is very much that of a cheap lip product, but I don’t find that it really lingers on the lips and it doesn’t have any taste. For me, this would be the product I would choose for someone just dipping their toe into deep lip shades because it’s quite flattering, wearable, and easy while still packing that plum punch.
Skone Cosmetics Luxe Doubler Eye & Lip Pencil in 18 Wine
I had to mention this lip liner (which I recently received via a subscription service) because it has been my go to for deep lips recently. It’s very creamy and easy to apply, but also stays put really well on the lips. This is a little pricier than the lipsticks I mentioned above, but I actually do feel like oftentimes it’s worth spending the money on the lip liner over the lipstick since they have a specific job to do – like, say, a primer.

A few other plum lippies that I would recommend are:
Wet N Wild Megalast Lip Color in Sugar Plum Fairy
Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar in Strumpet
Revlon Color Burst Matte Balm in Shameless (This one is REALLY purple. Best for deeper skin tones)
MAC Lipstick in Up The Amp (A lighter plum shade)
Thank you guys for reading and thanks so much to Ingrid for having me for this guest post! I hope you liked my picks for some of my favorite fall plum lip colours!
Do you have a favorite go-to plum lippie? I’d love to hear about it in the comments!
