As I’m mostly ordering my makeup using Sephora’s website, I receive a ton of samples (maybe because I’m ordering two tons of stock 😉). While I was decluttering this week, I came upon a large box of such samples and it showed me that I just never used them. Why you ask? Simply because I forget about them or as I’m in a hurry 99% of the time, I don’t want to test new stuffs just in case it doesn’t work.
Not such a fun fact: this week, I had a date with BeardMan (believe me, this doesn’t happen often with our horrific working schedules). I had the day off and all the time in the world to “make myself pretty”. Having time to spend, I got the bright idea to try a sample received as gift a few months earlier, Too Faced “Born This Way” foundation. You know how it goes: I moisturized, primed my face & eyelids, the brows are done & my eye makeup completed (for the rarest time, I did my eyes first!!!). And I’m sure you know where I’m getting at: I put the foundation on and OMG it’s awful. I had a cakey face, it clung to every dry patch I didn’t even know I had, well it looked horrible!!! Not in a million years I would have gone out looking like Heath Ledger’s Joker so … , I had to wash my whole face and start over!! The morale of that story is… never try a sample when you have to go out !! Do I have to specify the fact that I will never buy “Born This Way”, thanks to a simple sample.
From that point on, I made it my personal mission to finish all these samples; such a waste of money laying in this huge box. First thing out of the box was the Guerlain Maxilash Intense Volumizing Mascara that I didn’t even remember I had. Drumroll !! I think it may just be the BEST mascara I ever tried. My lashes (more like my lack of lashes) are looking so full, so black, so long … and it smells like a flower bouquet. What’s wrong with me?!! I must I’ve had this deluxe sample for at least 4 months.
As I stated earlier in my title, I think that samples are not very exciting. However, this Guerlain Mascara Experiment showed me that I may be wrong … I should have fun testing those new products and try to make good use of them in the process!!!
Have a great weekend my beauties
