Where are they now ?⎟ My 10 most used beauty products of 2014

As I continue to grow into an assumed beauty product addict, I’ve added to my collection a lot (did I say A LOT!!!) of new products in 2015. Unfortunately, adding products also means neglecting other … With year end getting closer, I wanted to revisit my 10 most used beauty products of 2014 and let you know what happened to them in 2015. Let’s take a trip down memory lane…(See my original post HERE!!!)

  1. real Techniques brushes: The love fest is still very strong, I ADORE these brushes. I own a lot of RT brushes and I can honestly say that out of all of them, there is just two I don’t care about. If you haven’t try them, you are missing out. Affordable, cruelty-free and I can’t see myself not using them ever.
  2. e.l.f. HD Lifting Concealer: I still use this concealer from time to time, but I’ve venture onto other products that offer lighter shades, more suitable for my skin tone. It won’t be this year’s favorite but this product is surely worth trying because of the awesome smooth formula & the little price tag.
  3. e.l.f High Definition Powder: Still using this one daily or e.l.f High Definition Undereye Setting powder to set (or bake) my concealer. Sometimes, the micro shimmer is a little annoying but it’s not really noticeable. At less than 3$, why try something else when this super product is working beautifully.
  4. Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara: I’m still loving this mascara so very much, even tough I’ve added some other products equally as good to my daily routine. I can’t see myself not having this mascara in my collection!!!
  5. Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer: I don’t know what happened in 2015 but I’ve stop using face primer. On rare special occasions, if I do prime my face, it’s the Veil Mineral Primer or the Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation oil-free Primer. During the wintertime, I prefer using the Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Hydrating Primer. Simply put, laziness caught up with me when it came to priming my face; I need to start using them ASAP.
  6. Too Faced Sun Bunny Bronzer: Guilty!! I bought so many bronzers in 2015 that I haven’t touch this one at all this year and it went all the way to the end of the drawer!  To be honest, I forgot about this one. Other brands/products will be in my 2015 favourite list. Stay tuned (If you have followed me all year, I’m sure you already know the 2 I’m talking about!!!)
  7. Benefit Cheeky Sweet Spot box o’blushes: This is by far THE best set (palette) I bought in the 2014 Holiday season. Benefit launched a similar set this year that is already for sale, I highly recommend you buy this one!!! (Psssst! This one is still a favorite & most used)
  8. COVERGIRL Ready Set Gorgeous & ANNABELLE Skin True mix with Revlon PhotoReady: Well, I did like a lot the Ready Set Gorgeous but at the end of the tube, I was tired of the pinkish undertone, that I didn’t repurchase (and won’t repurchase). Annabelle Skin True is my Holy Grail foundation; I hope the company never discontinue this foundation. For the Revlon PhotoReady, I really like this one but I will try other products when I finish my last bottle. In 2015, I was on a quest for finding the perfect foundation, and I’m still looking … I have such a weird skin type/tone, that it’s really hard for me to find the right texture for the right finish.
  9. (& 10) Too Faced Chocolate Bar & Too Faced Semi Sweet Chocolate Bar: I don’t know how to say it, but I haven’t touch these in 2015 for one not so good reason: I bought so many new eyeshadow palettes that these two palettes are placed in a way that I don’t really see them in my makeup organizer (lame but true!!!). I’m sure I still love them and I will surely buy the Too Faced Chocolate Bonbons palette coming soon, but I also want to try/use those that caught my eye in 2015 … even tough I’m sure I will find a way to still buy a few more in 2016 😔

Awww! It was so fun to revisit these old favourites ! What was yours ?

Ingrid super excited to write her 2015 favourites post soon (it will be a longer one) xxx

  1. I feel like as a makeup addict, it’s so easy to forget about makeup we used to love. I remember having the Too Faced Sun Bunny bronzer as a holy grail for me when I was in high school. I asked one of ladies to recommend me a bronzer and she gave me that. It was the first and ONLY bronzer I ever owned and I used all through high school. But after I ran out, I just forgot about it 😦 I might repurchase it now that you reminded me………

    1. I’m going on a low buy in 2016 for this reason … I have so many great products that I don’t use because I have too many. I want to enjoy my collection before stuff goes bad & to fall in love again with certain formula 🙂

  2. What a great topic, Ingrid! Now I want to do it too 🙂 Your poor chocolate bars! But I know how you feel. I get so caught up testing new products that I hardly get a chance to use older palettes that I love 😦

      1. I did kind of sort of do one but it hardly included beauty products and even then it was a blog post. I just got serious about my channel this year so the poor thing doesn’t have much content last year 😦 It’s a great idea though and I can’t wait to use it!

      2. I agree that the YouTube potential is hundreds of times better but I really love the friends I’ve made with the blog. I think I might change some of what I do though where though. For example, I probably won’t be doing anymore empties and/or favorites on the blog. But I love doing the palette comparisons and even though I haven’t done one in awhile, I also really like doing the x amount of looks, 1 palette posts too 🙂

      3. Time being a huge factor with a family, full time job, school , household choirs … I think you should only concentrate on YouTube (Video & Vlog). You are loosing your time with the blog. I’m sure that you could potentially make a career out of YouTube ! The friends (like myself) made from blogging will follow you 😀

  3. I started using the e.l.f High Definition Powder to set my concealer and it’s really good but that container is SO annoying! Bulky, and powder everywhere!
I’m opposite of you – in 2015 I’ve been using my primer more often instead of just using it for special occasion. I think one reason is I want to use up more products, and another reason – I find that I need to use less foundation when I use a primer.
I think I need to get my hands on this year’s Benefit box blush palette! I keep hearing how great last year’s was. I own 3 Benefit blushes so I hope there’s not much duplication in the palette!
Last month I was at Shoppers and the associate told me that they’re getting rid of Annabelle to make space for Joe Fresh! Similarly, they’re getting rid of Almay for NYX!

    1. I’m confuse about the packaging of the e.l.f container being bulky ?!!! (It’s super small and I use my fingers to bake, so no mess at all- strange-)
The reviews I read about this year’s Benefit box blush is that it’s not as good as last year. If you already own 3 blushes, there is a really good chance that you will have duplication. You should instead buy the Nars One Shocking Moment Cheek Palette !!!
I hate Joe Fresh 😦 (Annabelle is better, but the truth is that I just enjoy their foundation). At Shoppers if you find it, you should buy the Almay Brow Defining Pencil, for 2$ it’s really good. Stay away from their eyeshadows, they are mediocre ! (Even for 1$).
I hope you are enjoying the time off, for me it’s working again today :/

      1. There’s so much excess plastic around the jar – I’ll take a photo of it beside the Nars loose powder, you’ll see. Also, the lid doesn’t full close when the cap is lined up, so the powder just leaks out. It’s terrible!
Yes, I’m rather sad that Annabelle might be leaving shoppers – at least it’s still available at Rexall and Walmart.
Aw I took today off too! I just went came back from visiting the museum. 🙂

      2. Yes! The big one’s packaging is awful … I think it’s the same formula too minus the glitter particles! That’s why I always keep my old luxury empty jars for transferring products 🙂

    1. I started to do haul update, so I figure that it would be fun to see what I loved in 2014 …One year later, my favorites have change quite a bit 😀 Please do the same, I would love to read it !!!
