Hello my beauties! If you haven’t read last Monday’s post, this is week one of a Project Focus 10 that I’m doing with my blogger friends Jodi from ABrashAttitude, Joy from StyledWithJoy & Stashy from StashMatters. There is the link to my Project Focus 10 introductory post HERE .
First of all, I’m really pumped for this project! I’m ecstatic because I know that for this collaboration with my fellow “journalists” will surely help me complete this project… something that I never achieved so far 😬. Secondly, I often notice that some bloggers critic a product, and once reviewed, they stop using it for the remaining weeks of the project (and there are no problem with that)! However I personally chose to use my 10 selections exclusively. Why? Because I want to hit pan on a few of them, always an achievement for a makeup junkie who has too much products, and because I need the space in my drawers and bathroom counter to increase my stash (Oops, momentarily forgot my Low-Buy!!)!!! After 10 weeks of constant use and abuse, I feel like I’m enjoying them to the fullest and it will only make for a better review for each product and after the whole 10 weeks. It will be interesting to see the final results/appreciations.
So this week 1 post will feature my full review of the Dr Jart+ Premium BB cream. I bought it last April and have been wearing it since so it’s not a first impression at all, it’s a complete analysis, with biochemical and longitudinal results … kidding 😂, it’s just my honest opinion.
What it is:
A one-step balm that perfects the appearance of skin while protecting it from environmental factors.
What it is formulated to do:
– Bio-Peptide Complex infused with white gold to provide antiaging properties and support natural collagen
– Comes in one universal shade (In Canada)
A moisturizer and treatment serum, this all-in-one product also includes advanced brightening properties. Ideal under makeup, its natural-looking coverage minimizes the appearance of imperfections and evens the skintone. Antioxidant bio-peptides and adenosine protect skin from harsh environmental factors while restoring firmness and elasticity. Skin is left looking smooth, perfect, and natural.
At Sephora, available for 39$US (48$CND) for 1,5oz
♥ This product is cruelty free (Thanks Dr.Jart +)
♥ I love the fact that this BB has a SPF of 45.
♥ This universaly shade is perfect for fair to light skin tone (*In the US there is also a Medium to Deep shade)
♥ This product is truly a moisturizer and a foundation. Yes it offers a light coverage but it conceals my uneven skintone and that is what I was looking for in a perfect BB cream. Also a big plus for me is that it doesn’t accentuate my dry patches which occur a lot with our cold winter months. Very moisturizing!!!
♥ The wear time is exceptional; 10 hours + and it still looks flawless afterward. Very natural looking and super lightweight.
♥ It doesn’t cause any breakouts and agrees with my sensitive skin.
♥ 2 pumps (or two doses if you prefer) is enough for a full face. A tube last such a long time, I think it’s at fair price for the amount you get.
♥ I can wear a regular foundation on top and it still looks flawless and gorgeous. I rarely do because I like the end-product so much but it can be done…
♥ Doesn’t make your face shine like a disco ball. Remember, I have a combination skin type, more on the dryer side in winter. If you prefer the disco look, Vaseline is perfect to shine like a diamond (credits to Rihanna and Pink Floyd for the references…) 🙊😂
♥ Great for more mature skin as it doesn’t accentuate fine lines or pores if you use a pressing method to apply this beauty balm.
♥ The packaging: I hate that you can’t cut it open to get to the end when it is almost out. There is no way you can see how much product there is left as the tube is made from firm plastic and is not see-through whatsoever.
♥ The color selection: There is just one shade available in Canada and it’s for light skintone. My medium to darker skintone girls should’t even bother.
♥ You have to be aware that it has a greyish undertone that I have to conteract with a foundation powder.
♥ It’s not meant for super oily skin, I feel you would look too dewy since it’s really hydrating . ( A mattifying primer could do the trick though !!!)
This creamy texture is best applied using your finger tips, and with a pressing method. A damp Beauty Blender is not recommended with products containing SPF and foundation brushes absord too much product for my frugal taste.
To achieve the best finish possible, I find it better to let it sit on my skin for about 10 minutes, so it can dry properly before continuing with powders, bronzer & blush.
It’s a perfect score, the Holy Grail, the best all in one (Moisturizer, Sun Protection & Coverage) BB Cream I’ve ever tried. That being said it’s not a universal product that will suit everyone, but if you are of light complexion, love a SPF and prefer a lighter coverage then that could easily be the beauty balm that you are looking for. I will repurchase another tube at the future Sephora VIB sale next April.
Have a beautiful day my beauties
