Project Focus 10 ❥ Lancôme Dual Finish Powder Review

Project Focus Winter 2016

Welcome to week 2 of my Project Focus 10. If you don’t know what the hell I’m talking about, you can read my original post (link) here. Be sure to have a look at Joy, Jodi & Stashy’s posts, my collaborators on this crusade.

This past week, after a few minutes of preping, countouring and all my usual morning shenanigans, BeardMan made this comment: Wow! Your eye makeup is stunning and you’re really beautiful (Note from BM: Ingrid is always beautiful but she was particularly glowing that morning, and no you freaks, she is not pregnant or we haven’t been going at it like rabbits). Well, what do you know, I might be a cool tone girl after all since I’ve just been using my MAC X 15 Cool Neutral palette since the launch of this Focus 10 Project. Since I want this relationship to last a lifetime and continue to draw compliments from my soulmate, I NEED to buy ASAP the Viseart Cool Neutral Matte palette that is in my wish list!!!😜

As I pointed out in my first PF10 post, I exclusively use (95% of the time) the 10 products chosen for this project. I find that this strategy helps me discover (or rediscover) the benefits, and the range of all these products. However, it also brings a few disadvantages. I’m so pale (I mean, I’m always pale, but at this time of the year, I’m ghostly pale) that my MUFE Lift Concealer is not fair enough so I’ve been less pleased with this one.(Next week review)

This week’s review is all about the Lancôme Dual Finish powder in Matte Pearl 1 (this color is unfortunately discontinued).

Lancôme Dual Finish powder (Project Focus 10 - winter 2016)

From the Sephora Website …

What it is:

An ultra-versatile, multitasking powder and foundation in one.

What it does:

This portable compact is a powerful multitasker that provides sheer to full, buildable coverage. Dual Finish offers a virtually weightless feel for a natural matte finish that lasts all day, and it can be applied wet or dry, depending on the desired effect. Perfect for on-the-go touch-ups, use it for contouring and highlighting, makeup setting, color softening, and spot coverage.

What it is formulated WITHOUT:

– Parabens

– Sulfates

– Phthalates

At Sephora, Lancôme website, Drudstores Or Big Retailers (In Canada Lancôme is widely available) 45$US (51.50$CND)

Lancôme Dual Finish powder (Project Focus 10 - winter 2016)

♥After months of experimentation, it’s the best product to pair with my Dr Jart+ Premium BB cream (link). It adds coverage and I stay Matte a good 8 hours (I have combination skin with dry cheeks).

♥ 16 shades available.

♥ It doesn’t break me out at all. This powder is also Oil-Free.

♥ It doesn’t accentuate my dry patches nor my wrinkles or enlarged pores.

♥ You can do touch ups during the day and still won’t look cakey.

51.50$CND seems expensive but this compact contains twice the amount (0.67oz) of some other brands products. For example, Urban Decay’s Naked Skin Ultra Definition Powder is 43$ for a lot less product (0.31oz). So I guess it’s fair to say that this powder is fairly priced !!! (UD Naked Skin was on my wish list ! Maybe, I’ll make some changes…).

♥ I really love the black and gold packaging ; it looks sophisticated and elegant. It’s also very sturdy and it closes tightly, ideal for frequent travelers.

It smells like an “Old Lady” !!! Not that I think older women smell bad, it is a little bit outdated. I would greatly prefer no fragrance at all or something more actual! Not a deal breaker however, since the scent totally disappears after the application.

Lancôme Dual Finish powder (Project Focus 10 - winter 2016)♥♥

When I think I had this powder in my drawer for at least one year… Lancôme may not be a trendy brand or appears a little haughty most of the time, but this powder is perfect to give me some added natural coverage over a BB or CC Cream without having a heavy makeup feel on my face. This product has such a great finish… Yes, the aroma is not that great but it’s the only con I could find. I cannot critic its performance on its own or wet, as I constantly « press » this product onto my liquid foundation (I use a dense angle brush instead of a fluffy blush). Seriously, I’m really impressed with this wonderful powder! Highly recommended for all you makeup aficionados!

Are you doing a project focus or pan yourself ???

  1. ah the infamous old lady smell. Not quite sure what brands are aiming at with that, you would think skipping fragrance all together would make products easier to use for more people.

  2. I immediately thought you were possibly preggos due to the glowing comment LOL! 😉
You’ve been talking about that Viseart palette in every post lately. I think I need to put that on my wish list for April VIB sale too… 2016 is going to be the year of the eye shadow palette for me! 😛
Again, we’re on the same wavelength since we both chose the face powder to review today! 😀 It sounds really nice and when you look at it from a product weight comparison – good value too! I’m not sure why companies still insist on adding old lady scents to products – ick.

    1. Rest assure I won’t be pregnant anytime soon !!! (Not ever … You know I’m a doggy girl 😉 )
My worst “old lady” smelling product is my Burberry Matte Radiance highlight … It cost me a fortune and the smell is way too “floral” . For that reason I never bought any Burberry products after that beautiful but unwearable powder !!! 😦
Lancôme is unfortunately still seen as your mother or grandmother brand … They did not adapt to the new generation.; I’m rediscovering them and I should try soon the Teint Idole Ultra !
I’m talking so much about that Viseart palette because I need to convince myself that I need it (we both know I don’t!!!).
I knew you would become a palette girl Lol 😛 Since you don’t own the KVD Shade + Light you should buy the Viseart Neutral Matte palette …

      1. I don’t think Sephora carries the Viseart palettes in store, right? I’d like the opportunity to test them out in person before throwing down the money! But I guess they have a good return policy…
Well, no one said I couldn’t own BOTH the KVD and the Viseart! 😉

      2. Viseart is online only !!!
Great idea, buy the KVD and a Viseart other than the Neutral Matte 🙂 I’m just interested in their Matte palettes … You???
Did you know that they are super cheap considering the amount/oz of shadows you get !!!

      3. I knew it 😀 I know it’s expensive, but when you consider that your GORGEOUS Burberry Complete Eye Palette is 64$ for 0.19oz (4 shadows) … 😛 Oh! Boy my low-buy is making me look like an analyzing freak now LOL
