Valentine’s Week ❥ The List

Valentines Day 2016 (Curly Spring Blossom)

Valentine’s Week ❥ The List

Valentine’s Day, that time of the year when we all get mushy mushy and lovey dovey (Euh! not really)! Somewhere in  the back of our mind, we are hoping that our significiant other still remembers the V-Day, expresses his love to us and pops the question. For me, I know that it won’t ever happen and that idea migrated somewhere far away from my mind as BeardMan is quite opiniated about this subject. So I thought that the boyfriend will benefit from THE list.

The “not a good idea” List …

With my evergoing battle against my weight, it’s no chocolate for the misses. It seems like I’m on a perpetual diet so this is a no-no (I had a teacher who was always saying a chocolate bar is 5 minutes in our mouth and 5 years in our butt!!!)

I think fresh flowers are lovely but I hate receiving a big bouquet. Let’s face it, 3 days later this gift is over and done, and unfortunately in the garbage (10 years ago, it was trendy to make some potpourri with the dried-up flowers but 2016 doesn’t need the dreadful return of that trend). Seriously, a 50$ bouquet is 3 days of beauty but a 50$ eyeshadow palette is years of joy.

If I wasn’t clear before, I lost a few rounds in my bout against my weight. I sadly gained back a couple pounds (more like than 25), so BeardMan knows better than to buy me some floozy lingerie. A flannel pyjama is so attractive too you know!!! (BeardMan’s note: attractive yes, but so @#$&! hot!! )

Romantic Dinner

I don’t know about you but going to dinner on V-Day always feels like a rip-off to me since restaurants tend to jump their prices and they always have one pre-made menu. The pleasure of going to a restaurant is to feel free to order whatever you want, and to send that you have your money’s worth… I never feel that during special events and holidays!

♥ Now this is my little list of things I would love ♥

It’s been already a month of giving my significant other, a ton of (not-so) subtle hints)…

I’ve been on a No-Buy on lip products for so long that any chance I get, I suggest some lipsticks. I’m usually a die-hard lip gloss fan (#shinylipsrocks) but lately, I’ve been wearing more and more lipsticks and I’m dying to have the Arbonne Smoothed Over Lipstick in Magnolia. I really REALLY like this formula (Vegan & Cruelty-Free) or maybe, Mac Hue.

During the last months, I’ve been on a quest to become a better ME: Creating better habits, motivational tips, finding new tools to achieve new goals, etc… Here are some books that are highly recommended on different sites and that I want to read so badly …

Adventures for your Soul (Shannon Kaiser)

You are a Badass (Jen Sincero)

& this journal Better Than Before (Gretchen Rubin)

It’s not a secret that I’ve been praying the beauty gods for someone special a.k.a. love of my life, to be the best father to our furry babieS. He is already a super dad for our only girl Betty but I would like to add a few siblings to the family (let’s say 7 or 8 new dogs). I know he is reading this post, so I guess it could help… #AdoptDon’tShop

Face Palette

I want the MAC contour & Sculp Yourself Palette very badly…  This little number is calling my name, my cell phone and even sends me emails and text messages: “Ingrid…..Ingrid … we made this one just for you”!

It’s been on my “will I ever get one” list forever. I know it’s a little expensive for that special V-Day but heck, we never know (No wedding = a Vitamix at least, you don’t think so?!?). Someone could argue that getting an appliance on Valentine’s Day means spending more time in the kitchen but, for me, it would be a great solution to all my smoothie recipes which are my basic foods each morning…

Maybe this post seems like I need something more in my life but let me be honest (and cute) for a moment: Being with beardman really feels like Valentine’s day every day. He doesn’t have to give me anything but his heart (Ok! That’s way too cheesy). I will take whatever he wants (on the list of course), a hug and a kiss or even nothing at all (not happening).

Humour me and let me know what’s on your not-so-secret list!!!

    1. Sadly I will not be a furry mom on Sunday 😦
BeardMan and I have a long distance relationship (we live two hours apart). The company he works for has been sold recently, there is a good chance he will loose his job ! (Stressful times)
My Cane Corso will remain a lonely child for now (she badly misses her brother and sister, so sad to see her like this).

      1. Oh wow I didn’t know that! That must be hard! How often do you get to see each other? That sucks about his job but you never know…. the company I work for was sold last January and they did make a lot of changes but many of us did keep our jobs too. Worst case, he’ll find something else! Maybe even move closer 😉 Poor puppy 😦 That reminds me, I meant to send you a card but I never got around to making it 😦 It’s the thought that counts right!!??

      2. We try to see each other every three weeks !!! We’ve been doing this for 5 years 🙂
A new job would be most likely in Montreal or Toronto but not in Quebec 😦 (We are in a recession, it will be harder to find a new job)
I don’t see our situation changing anytime soon !!! (He’s my soulmate, we’ll make it work no matter what)
Indeed that’s the thought that counts xxx

  1. I really love this list! I may steel part of your list and add it to my list 🙂
my bf and I don’t really do anything for Valentine’s Day, we’ve gone out to dinner in the past but it always turns into a fiasco and there are crowds and it’s just not that fun. Generally I treat myself to some small Valentines treat and call it a day lol
I’ve been with my partner for over ten years and we’re not getting married either 🙂

  2. Haha my bf and I have an understanding. We exchange Valentine’s Day greeting cards and that’s it. Sometimes he will surprise me with some sweets but there’s no expectations to get me anything. 😛 I agree about the flowers – it’s such a waste AND a mess in less than 3 days! And yes, romantic dinner is a huge ripe-off. One Valentine’s Day we went to Swiss Chalet because we knew they wouldn’t have a special Valentine’s Day menu to rip us off. 😆
We’ve been together going on 10 years and we’re not married – everyone keeps bugging me about it – is this the year he’s going to propose? NO! We’re just not like that.
Awww a doggie would be the perfect Valentine’s Day gift for you! 😀
