Project Focus 10 ❥ Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder Review

Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder Review

Week 6

Without further ado, here is Week 6 of our Project Focus 10Be sure to have a look at Joy, Jodi & Stashy’s posts, my friends/collaborators in this interesting venture.

Project’s Recap so far…

As my schedule was pretty hectic last week, I greatly appreciated using my PF10 products. After all this time working with them and always getting great results, it made it a breeze to achieve my day-to-day makeup. Usually, I spend about 10-15 minutes per morning, just to decide which product to use. Having already decided to use the same products over and over, it really helps my OCD mind focus… 😜

It’s kinda funny how by using only my Mac x 15 Cool Neutral eyeshadow palette, it brought out my cool side. I always thought I was a warm shadow girl but MAC surely showed me wrong those last several weeks! I’m pleased because as spring is just around the corner, this experience has opened a lot of new possibilities with both warm and cool colors…

Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder (Review)

Surprisingly, it was one of my most difficult review since I like the product but I don’t LOVE it. It’s not a regret buying at all, but I’m almost certain I won’t buy it again. Don’t shoot the messenger but, maybe for my complexion or just my own taste,  I don’t see what the fuss is all about. With that in mind, here is my review, and like always, agree to disagree!

Note: As you can see by my first picture, LM brings out my Woodstocky side, with those flowers embedded in. BeardMan was speechless on this one 😶! Oh well, I’m having fun trying new style… 🌸🌼So dust off your old Doors and CCR albums, and let’s begin 🌺✌🏻!!

What it is:
A transparent, weightless powder to set undereye concealer, brighten dark circles, and diminish signs of visible fine lines.

What it does:
Create the appearance of the most naturally perfected skin, while maximizing the wear and coverage of makeup. This transparent white setting powder brightens, lightens, and boosts luminosity. Formulated with light-reflecting micronized pigments, this super-soft weightless powder delivers a soft radiant finish, never settling in fine lines, accentuating shadows, or building up on skin.

What else you need to know:
Dermatologist-tested and non-comedogenic, this product is perfect for all skin types, even sensitive ones.

♥  This powder is very nice, finely milled & oh! so smooth. It really feels like silk…

♥ It does set nicely my concealer and it keeps creasing at bay.

♥ It doesn’t dry up my under eye area whatsoever.

♥ I  do not notice any brightening effect, this one is a shocker! Could it be that my skin tone is too fair???

♥ I like to “bake” my under eye area and I cannot justify baking with a 30$ powder. This would be very expensive for the amount you get. To be honest a little bit goes a long, long way  if you don’t use the baking method!!!

♥ I experimented by using it in other areas but it’s definitely a no-go for me! It’s to use for my under eyes only!

I expected a lot out of this powder after such rave reviews (You Tube made me buy it!!!). Don’t get me wrong it’s pretty good; my concealer stays on very well with it. I like it, but I’m not sure if I’d go out of my way to purchase again. Bummer, I know!!! Dare I say that it’s as good a purchase as anything else, just nothing “secret” or “special” about it.

Note: I know that I’m alone in my corner here since there is rave reviews all across the board for this one. No one could ever say that it’s a bad powder because it’s a good one! It’s not revolutionary; it gets the job done without being fantastic. Maybe all those “over the moon” reviews made my expectations way too high …

    1. LM Secret Brightening Powder is just for the under eye area and I don’t notice any brightening effects 😦 It could be just me since everybody else seems to really enjoy this powder!
I’m sure you look beautiful with warm & cool tone shadows …even a mix of two 😉

  1. I think most people can wear both warm and cool shades, depending on how they balance it! I used to think I was a warm girl too but some warm colours look SICKLY on me!
Aww too bad this didn’t work for you! I love it though. I don’t bake using this. I use it VERY sparingly. And I’ve had people compliment me on how nice my under eye area looks – weird.
Speaking of hyped products that didn’t work… check out my review today on the Smashbox Primer Water! 😆 😉

    1. Oh! Nooo I’m afraid to read your post now .(I feel responsible on this one) !!!
      I like the LM powder but I don’t feel it’s a HG status…
I prefer warm shades, but I had so many compliments since using that cool tone palette that I started wondering !!! So weird 😀

  2. I’ve had several occasions where something was SO hyped up that there’s no way it can actually live up to my expectations. I really hate that!
I feel like I would have the same problem at this point if I ever tried this powder.
