With Mother’s Day next Sunday, it’s time to think about how to spoil your beloved Mother. If she is into makeup, it’s the perfect time to buy her an item she wouldn’t splurge on herself! I often see people buying a big flower bouquet for the occasion, and being the makeup lover that I am, I always think it’s 50$ + wasted on something that will go straight in the garbage after a few days. Makeup can last months, even years and brings a lifetime of happiness … That’s coming from a girl whose own mother would totally prefer the bouquet!!! Fun Fact: My mama doesn’t wear any makeup at all and never dyed her hair. I think when I was born, I was switched at birth.
Note: Some products are expensive so it may be time to bring your siblings in on this.
Here is the list of what I think are sure bets and appropriate for women of all ages:
Givenchy Prisme Libre Magnolia Couture Edition (57$)
You can not go wrong with this powder! I have an older version of this product and I can assure you that it’s universally flattering and seriously, what about the packaging… it screams Mother’s Day, and as a bonus, you get the flower bouquet on the cover 😉!
Sephora Favorites Bronze Bares-All (40$ – 48$CND)
You can read my recent review on this new Sephora Favorites Bronze Bares-All… This little number is the perfect gift before summer.
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette (62$ – 70$CND)
This Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette is such a good palette, I appreciate it more now than when I bought it a year ago. Since a little goes a long way, she will enjoy the subtle glow for a long time (there is almost no dent in each of my powder). Simply lovely, for mature skin especially…
Laura Mercier Eye Art Artist’s Palette (55$ – 70$CND)
Laura Mercier eyeshadows are so underrated; they are easily in my top 3 formulas ever. I didn’t buy this particular palette since every color were already included in previous collections (and of course, I already own almost all of them). If your mom is into pink/nude/purple natural shadows, I think she would adore this beauty…
Nars NARSissist Cheek Studio Palette (65$ – 85$CND) or Nars Steven Klein Collaboration One Shocking Moment Cheek Palette (92$CND)
You can’t go wrong with Nars blushes and bronzers. These 2 palettes offer a great variety and are perfect to add a finishing touch to any makeup look. The differences between the two are only color selection.
Note: These powders are very pigmented; if your mom is more into a subtle blush, read below…
Benefit Cosmetics Cheekathon Blush & Bronzer Palette (58$ – 75$CND)
With the exception of the color Dallas (that I don’t have), I’ve been enjoying these blushes and the bronzer Hoola for the longest time. Benefit blushes, in my opinion, are not overly pigmented; they give you just a nice flush of color. The value for money of this palette is really good since each powder is full-size and what about the packaging that is so darn practical and cute.
Nars Lip Gloss in Chelsea Girls and Turkish Delight (26$ – 32$CND)
Again a beautiful formula and universally flattering colors to wear alone or as a topper.
I could have suggested so many other products but I only went with some items that are, for me, sure bets and would make any mother (again except mine) ecstatic. It’s very sad that my dog & cat are not able to shop! I’m a mother you know … for my furry kids but nevertheless, a mother too (and a damn good one I must say)!!!
Happy Mother’s Day to all my mama’s out there !!!

My mom barely wears makeup (I can get her lipstick and some skincare, that’s about it!) so this list is more like a gift suggestion list for ME! 😀
I really want to try a NARS gloss sometime.

It’s so funny how all our mothers are not into makeup !!!
I’m 100% certain that at 80, I will still be wearing a ton of makeup 😜

Forget mom, I want one of everything on your list! 😛
I’ve not heard about that Givenchy powder – is it like Guerlain’s Meteorites?

I kind of have EVERYTHING on my list 😀
Guerlain’s Meteorites gives a luminous finish as the Givenchy one is more mattifying/color correcting !!!
I own this one :

How is your wrist ?

Oh they are in separate compartments, the powders! How neat! I’ll have to see this in person.
My wrist is a lot better ever since I had my ergonomic assessment and changed my desk / chair configuration! I can feel my wrist healing. 🙂 Thank you for asking!
