Sephora VIB Sale Recommendations Fall 2016

As I always like to read those kinds of posts, I chose to do mine for tomorrow’s event!!!  VIB Sale means time to stock up on some well wanted items or just some holy grails products that we cannot live without. Therefore, I want to share my ultimate favorite products from my daily regimen and also, all past favorites, Ride or Die items, or holy grail statuses and hands down, superstars products (at least, in my book).

If there are categories that are not mentionned, it’s simply because my ultimate favorites are from brands that Sephora doesn’t carry. If you’re disappointed that 2016 Holiday new releases are absent from my list, I willingly chose to overlook those Special Editions since I don’t find them exciting or worth the money. Experience tells me that some oldies are still better than the new stuff.

Without further ado, here are some products that you might want to consider! If a product has been previously reviewed on my blog, I’ll put the link just to make sure you are well informed… Happy Shopping everyone!

face

Tinted Moisturizers or BB creams

Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer, bareMinerals COMPLEXION RESCUE Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream and Nars Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer.

All three give me a natural finish, don’t clog my pores or cause breakouts. You can’t go wrong with these if you prefer a light luminous coverage.

Foundations

Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra 24H Long Wear Foundation, Smashbox Studio Skin 15 Hour Wear Foundation or Nars Sheer Glow Foundation.

For those special events, when you want a light to medium coverage that doesn’t look cake face but youthful and natural, you need to give a good look at these three great foundations.

Contour/ Bronzer (cream and power)

Kevyn Aucoin The Contour Book The Art of Sculpting + Defining Volume II

If you live in the US (sadly, Sephora doesn’t offer this particular palette in Canada), this is, hands down, the best product/palette I bought in 2016. Considering the price, this a steal for the amount of products you get and mostly, the exceptional quality. A definite must-have!

Bronzer

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Bronzer (Radiant Bronze Light)

I don’t like a flat matte bronzer; I prefer a luminous, golden formula that looks somewhat J-LO style. A little pricey, but a product that will last you a very long time.

Setting Powder

Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder

When you want a finely milled setting powder that won’t look powdery or cakey, nothing beats this powder!! It really helps keep your makeup looking fresh for a long period. Expensive? Probably, but this format lasted me more than a year.

Blushes

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush or Nars Blush (Madly and Impassioned are my favorite colors)

Those brands offer some of the best formulas on the market! I personally love blushes that look very subtil, while adding the right amount of color. Since I have a mature skin with a lot of textures, I stay away from glitters or shimmers on my cheeks as they are not the most flattering.

Highlighters

Bobbi Brown Bobbi To Glow Shimmer Brick Palette, Laura Mercier Matte Radiance Baked Powder Compact (01) or Kevyn Aucoin The Celestial Powder (Starlight or Candlelight)

I’m gaga over these three gorgeous powder as they add a natural highlight that is so flattering without looking over the top. I’ve tried so many over the years and these are and will remain my lifetime favorites!

brows

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz, Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Powder Duo, Benefit Cosmetics Gimme Brow Volumizing Fiber Gel and Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Gel.

Each day, I use all these products and my brows look “on fleek” (not Instagram fleek but natural awesomeness). These may appear expensive (and they are), but they last for such a long time, consider it an investment! Except for the brow wiz, the other products will last you a year or more…

concealer

Smashbox Photo Finish Hydrating Under Eye Primer

I never achieve a perfect result (a flawless concealer) unless I apply this under-eye primer! It serves one purpose but it does a superb job: hydrating this delicate region!

Becca Under Eye Brightening Corrector or Yves St-Laurent TOUCHE ÉCLAT – Radiant Touch

When I started to add these two products (not at the same time) to brighten my eye area, they became a must-have! They give my makeup a freshness that is more than welcomed.

bareMinerals BARESKIN Complete Coverage Serum Concealer or MAKE UP FOR EVER Lift Concealer.

Since my under-eye is very dry and with fines lines, I now need a serum-type formula  concealer that won’t look cakey or crease on me like crazy! These two fits my needs and give a light coverage that doesn’t make me look like I’m 60.

Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder

This product works beautifully at keeping my under-eye situation at bay (fine lines and dry skin). Like you know, I always use the wet baking method to assure a flawless, crease-free finish, and this product gives fantastic results.

eyes

Eyeshadow Palettes

These eyeshadow palettes are true favorites that have past the test of time. Personally, all of these are sure winners in every collections, if you like the shades included that is! Everyone wants the new stuff and snob some really awesome palettes that are way better than probably 90% of those new trendy products, brought to you to fill all big brands’ pockets (and empty ours!). As you will see from my list, these palettes are hooded eyes friendly! I found that matte shadows and neutral shades work best with my complexion and help creating an illusion to make my lid appear bigger! Plus, bright colors scare the hell out of me.

Kat Von D Shade + Light Eye Contour Palette

Viseart Eyeshadow Palette (01 Neutral matte)

Laura Mercier Eye Art Artist’s Palette

Too Faced The Chocolate Bar Eye Palette or the Semi-Sweet or BonBons

Becca Ombre Rouge Eye palette

Tarte Tartelette Amazonian Clay Matte Eyeshadow Palette

lips

Lip Glosses

Nars Lipgloss (Chelsea Girls and Turkish Delight are my fav), Marc Jacob Beauty Enamored Hi-Shine Gloss Lip Lacquer Lipgloss (Sugar Sugar and Moonglow are my fav) or Buxom Full-On Lip Cream and Lip Polish (White Russian, Katie and Pink Lady are my fav)

I am a lip gloss fanatic! I rarely wear lipstick so, I don’t have many favorites. I prefer glosses because they make my lips deliciously gorgeous and I find that the older I get, glossy lips are more flattering than a matte version…

Hope it’s helping…

  1. I’m waiting for Sephora to carry IT Cosmetics so I can buy the CC cream that everyone raves about! 😛 I removed the Nars foundation from my wish list this year because I think I’d rather get back into BB / CC creams – don’t know why I went away from them.
What is the meaning of Sephora Canada not offering the Kevyn Aucoin contour book!?!!! 👿
Nars Madly is really pretty… I should pull that out to wear more (as soon as Project Pan is over!)
I will forever be indebted to you for the Becca Under Eye Brightening Corrector recommendation! Even though I did not care for the Ombre Rouge palette… 😉 😆
