These days, I have brain orgasms from watching or reading all your recommendations, being envious of all your hauls (specially after our recent VIB sale) but mostly, I’ve secretly been savouring all the Anti-Hauls out there. If you don’t know what these are, they are really just about makeup addicts mentioning the products they are not tempted to buy at all during, for instance, this 2016 Holiday season.
This Anti-Haul is my first one and I hope that nobody takes offence if, for whatever reason, I mention a product that you happen to love. Take it as it is; an honest, personal preference and if unfortunately, it’s a product I should reconsider, by all means, tell me why!!!
Urban Decay Naked Illuminated Trio
Where do I start with this horrible palette! Yes I said it: HORRIBLE! When I swatched it in-store I was shocked by all those chunks of glitters. If you are 18 years old, with flawless skin and go clubbing each night, then this one could be good for you.
Recently, Wayne Goss did rave about this UD palette and it frankly made me raise some eyebrows! I hope he was paid to say that! C’mon Wayne… (I still like you though)!
Urban Decay Full Spectrum Palette
If you know anything about me at all, you realize that these types of colorful palettes scare the hell out of me. I just can’t think of an eye makeup that would look good on me with this rainbow of colors. As for the formula, two friends bought it and returned it within a week. Ischhhhhhh! This will be in the sale section soon enough and I still wouldn’t dream of buying it.
Tarte Pretty Paintbox Collector’s Makeup Case
First, I hate brands that have all their normal regular products made in the USA but when it’s time for collabs or Holiday palettes, these special edition items are made in China. Second, the $543Cnd value is so ridiculous! and third, just go and swatch the shadows, you’ll know what I mean… I’ve said it multiple times but I have a beef (for a vegetarian that says a lot) with namely Tarte and Too Faced for giving us products that will all be included in next year’s declutter special blog because they simply are not on par with their usual great products.
Fact: Have you ever seen a Holiday palette somewhere in a “Ride or Die Tag” video (or blog)? Look at all the declutter videos and here they are, displayed for all to see… It’s pretty unsettling because I too bought these products and I too never used them in the past (money not well spend)!
Sephora Collection More Than Meets The Eye Eyeshadow Palette
I have nothing to say about this palette or any of the Sephora Collection Holiday releases but since I know that they (usually) go on sale very quickly after Christmas (and sometimes even before), why would I consider buying them at this time?
MAKE UP FOR EVER Artistic Eye Shadow Palette
This year is an exception: I won’t buy MUFE Holiday palette. As you probably know, their Artist’s Shadows are favorites of mine but I’m getting fed up with this brand using the same shades over and over again. I think this palette is so vapid – meaning brings nothing stimulating or challenging (once again, CSB is a educational blog)! OK, the tin is super cute but at the same time, so unpractical. I will even pass when it’ll be on sale!
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit – Surreal Light
When the first pictures of this Limited Edition Hourglass palette came out, I had it “virtually” in my cart, but after watching it and trying these powders at my local Sephora, I just couldn’t justify the price for these unpigmented powders… The packaging is so darn cute, but what’s inside is not cost effective!
Sephora Favorites Give Me Some Lip & Liner
I’m a self-proclaimed Queen of the Sephora Favorites! I buy (most of) them all but this year, I will be skipping this one. The selected featured products are mainly in red or berry and this girl don’t do these colors. But if you rock dark lips on a daily basis, you should consider this Holiday set. Value wise, this is worth it!
Natasha Denona Star Eyeshadow Palette
We all cried a river when the Viseart palette came out with its $100Cnd price tag, but now we often see palettes at $215Cnd and more. I have to draw the line somewhere and at more than a 100$, it’s getting way too expensive for this working girl (The Viseart are so worth it though)! On special skincare products, I’m willing to put the extra dollars if I see major results but for eyeshadows, no way!
I have to stop because I have way too much fun, dishing about all those products! At the risk of repeating myself, please don’t take offence as I know that we, Beauty Addicts, are very attached to our Holy Grail products and I think we could literally fight for them. I still remember vividly when my good friend Stashy reviewed Becca’s Ombre Rouge palette and she gave it a mere 3 stars; I took it personally and anything under a 9 stars was inconceivable!😜😂
