Makeup Declutter Series 2017 | Eyeshadow Palettes

Bye-Bye to 10 Eyeshadow Palettes…

I’m a little sad about discarding these eyeshadow palettes. All of them contain good quality shadows (except maybe Cargo that is just so-so). My hoarder genes made sure that these palettes all made it through last year’s decluttering, but this year, I’ve decided that enough is enough and keeping them just to gather dust on my shelves is stupid so, it’s time to let them go and focus on better ones that I want to use up (or at least try to)!

Once again, they will end up at my niece and she’ll do what she wants with them; I guess she’ll be sharing with her friends or maybe just throw them away.

Decluttering is very hard and frustrating but when my mind is made up, I feel very proud and content to move on. In the future, I would like to only have a maximum of 5 palettes at a time, and rotate. Honestly, who needs more anyway (it’s not like I go out every night). Realistically in 5 years, I should get to this goal ! It’s not every year that I decide to let go of 10 upscale and unused palettes, but it has to be done and after this massive decluttering, I kept “La Crème de la Crème” and still own about 30. My entire collection will be featured in future posts after all this decluttering is done.

So it’s 🎶“So Long, Farewell, Auf Wiedersehen, Good Bye”🎶 to 10 palettes! I am still heartbroken of letting go two of them: Urban Decay’s Femine Palette and Stila’s In The Light. Their quality is impeccable but the UD one is kinda old (AC/DC will always be my favorite purple color ever) and the packaging on Stila’s looks so cheap that I forget to use it.

Note: I didn’t swatch or show them more since the majority of them are no more available…

  1. I am totally loving the whole decultter trend – watching those videos on youtube and reading blog posts on it is so oddly satisfying! I love your blog, and this was a really great post! Xxx

  2. Aww, at least your niece will be able to get some mileage out of these! They’re pretty palettes, even if you don’t find they work that well.

I have to agree with my Cargo eyeshadows – not impressive, even the old school singles I have. I’m tempted to toss mine, as well.

  3. So glad to see these are going to a good home. You are probably your niece’s favourite aunt! 😄 This is precisely why I just can’t get into palettes – so much commitment to them and I know myself I don’t get use of all of them.
Good job Ingrid! Keep it up!

      1. I’m not going to do one major one, I’ve been setting aside things here and there and will be doing a quarterly declutter. I thought about doing it by category but it’s too daunting! 😛

  4. Wow, props to you for getting rid of 10 eye shadow palettes! It’s emotionally difficult to part with those, haha.

When I first started getting into makeup, the UD Ammo palette was really big. I wanted one so much, but was actually just thinking about the palette a few weeks back and thinking that it was a good thing I never ended up getting it, as it rarely would have been touched by me in the last two or three years!

Oh my gosh, so sad to see you get rid of those Stila palettes. They’re so gorgeous and Stila doesn’t make them anymore!
