Skincare Empties| Winter 2017 Edition

United Nations proclaimed 2017 The International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development, The Chinese New Year is The year of the Rooster and on Curly Spring Blossom, 2017 is The Year of the Empties. I already mentioned that I have put myself on a serious No-Buy (or Necessity-Only Buy) so it’s fair to assess that, if I don’t buy products and I’m still a makeup junky, I’ll use up my stash at great speed,  meaning more empties than in previous years. Honestly, I never liked writing these posts but since I love reading about everybody else’s trash,  maybe I should put my mind into it…😂

If you are an avid follower, you know that I’m doing a Project Pan. The products listed here are not the ones featured in my Spring Cleaning PP .

Skincare

Skincare Empties| Winter 2017 Edition

Philosophy Purity: This cleanser is my Holy Grail for my nightly double cleansing. For starters, this very mild face & eye cleanser removes my first layer of makeup without drying or damaging my skin!

Ingrid’s Rate: 10/10 I already have 2 backups because, God forbid, I would be distraught to say the least if I found myself without it!

Skincare Empties| Winter 2017 Edition

Origins Antioxidant Cleanser with White Tea: Another favorite cleanser. This stuff smells so good (BTW, the whole Origins White Tea Line is so yummy). I like to use it in conjunction with my Clarisonic since it’s mild and lather just enough for my personal taste.

Ingrid’s Rate: 9/10. The aroma alone puts me in a good mood. Such an underrated product… And again, I already have a backup!

Skincare Empties| Winter 2017 Edition

Caudalie Moisturizing Toner: For some reasons, this product flew under the radar for awhile and after emptying it, I found myself craving for more… I’m normally very picky about toner: Most of them leave my skin very dry, so I’m always on the hunt for the most mild and hydrating one out there. This Caudalie product takes away the last remnants of my makeup if I haven’t cleanse well enough and still leaves my skin exceptionally soft.

Ingrid’s Rate: 9/10. I can’t wait to repurchase this toner after I finish the ones I already own. The fresh scent is to die for and the product comes with a practical pump.

Skincare Empties| Winter 2017 Edition

Rimmel Gentle Eye Make Up Remover: After reading so many good reviews about this eye makeup remover, I was excited to put my hands on it and try it; unfortunately, this stuff is really bad. It just doesn’t do a good job at removing regular mascara so forget those waterproof ones. To make matter worst, it irritates my eyes so much, I feel like bleach would give similar results (joke – don’t try that!!!).

Ingrid’s Rate: 1/10. Will never repurchase. I had high hopes but it went down the drain after using it!

Skincare Empties| Winter 2017 Edition

Mario Badescu Drying Mask: I initially bought this mask as a spot treatment for my acne  scars and while it does an ok job, the results are nothing like the Mario Badescu Drying Lotion (the pink stuff). As a mask, it’s almost to abrasive for my sensitive skin.

Ingrid’s Rate: 5/10. I wouldn’t repurchase but on the other hand, it’s not a bad mask if you have very oily problematic skin. Like I mentioned, the MB Drying Lotion is 10 times better if you are searching for a miracle overnight spot treatment.

Skincare Empties| Winter 2017 Edition

Sunday Riley Luna Sleeping Night Oil : This night oil is hyped for a very good reason, it WORKS. Just a few drops at night and I wake up with a youthful, glowy, bouncy looking skin the next morning. Seriously, it’s a total transformation in a bottle, and overnight. It also keeps my redness at bay.

Ingrid’s Rate: 10/10. In love with this nighttime oil! I will 100% repurchase as soon as I finish the other oil I have in my stash. I wish it wasn’t that expensive though but the previous full size bottle lasted me almost one year: 3 or 4 drops are enough for my whole face.

Skincare Empties| Winter 2017 Edition

Ole Henrikson Truth Serum Collagen Booster: By using this serum, I learned that Vitamin C Complex seems to break me out like crazy, so after one week of usage, I stopped completely and then just used it on my neck. Oh boy! What a revelation! It did an amazing job at making my neck appear younger and giving it a smooth texture. Even if it worked on my face, I wouldn’t repurchase since I’ve learned from Stephanie Nicole that Vitamin C Complex should be kept in an air-tight and light proof container.

Ingrid’s Rate: 3/10 Bad packaging for such a volatile formula and it broke me out so badly.

Skincare Empties| Winter 2017 Edition

Shiseido Urban Environment Oil-Free UV Protector Spf 42: I really enjoy this sunscreen, more so because it doesn’t break me out and a little goes a very long way. This product is Oil-Free so you don’t get the oily and sticky residue that often comes from applying sunscreens. Another upside is the matte finish which makes it perfect for applying your usual makeup afterward. To my surprise, this bottle lasted me 4 months. This only tiny problem is that it gives a slight white cast but nothing major.

Ingrid’s Rate: 8/10. If you are suffering from acne, this product is a good one to try. I will repurchase at some point.

  1. I haven’t heard about the Caudalie Moisturizing Toner – will have to check it out!
Aw, I like the Rimmel Gentle Eye Make Up Remover for non-waterproof mascara, it works for me and it’s really gentle on me! But yes, it’s no good for waterproof mascara, I don’t know why they claim that.
And I love that Ole Henrikson Truth serum too – it’s going on my favourites list. See what I mean, we really ARE opposites! 😛
