This is a quick post about my strategy for any Sephora’s VIB sale. When THE sale is just days away, we get all excited, usually make irrational decisions and buy the things we are lusting over but don’t need. Inversely, we completely forget about our essentials (skincare, haircare), those products that we use daily and will probably need for the months ahead. A rapid inventory, more so if you are on a tight budget or just don’t want to accumulate too much, is mandatory to assess your collection!!!
What if I told you that the VIB sale is not that attractive for low-priced items!!! Let’s do some math, shall we…
Sephora VIB Sale
When it comes to Sephora’s VIB Sale (November & April), I only go for pricier items (40$ and up). The 20% off is more than welcome when buying large sets or more expensive products, and saving 8$, 10$ or 20$ per product is better for my wallet instead of small economies of 2-3$ at a time.
Regular Price + Deluxe Sample
However, I chose to buy every product that are under 40$ at regular price to get deluxe samples. Eye creams, face oils, face creams, serums & concealers are always the best to redeem value-wise.
For example …
Take the Anastasia Brow Wiz that I bought last week:
If I had used the VIB Sale rebate:
⇒Brow Wiz: 27$Cnd minus 20% = 5,40$ reduction.
Instead, I bought it full price and claimed a free deluxe sample:
⇒⇒ Brow Wiz:27$CND + the Dermalogica Stress Positive Eye Lift free deluxe sample valued at 21.20$CND (I did the calculation)
Choosing between 5,40$Cnd or 21,20$ is a no-brainer right? By the way, the Dermalogica eye cream is FABULOUS!!!
Using that strategy (or the point perk products), I haven’t bought any eye cream or moisturizer for the last 3 years! This strategy sometimes doesn’t work if you’ve just emptied a product and need a replacement swiftly because some Deluxe samples choices are not that good (economically of qualitatively), but if you can manage your stash, try to combine your essentials replacements with a great selection of Deluxe Samples, you will really get the most bang for your buck.
I get that we are really excited about Sephora’s VIB Sale but as I showed, occasionally, we just don’t get the maximum value for our money.
