Farleyco | Ecotools, 7th Heaven, Modèle, Purple Tree, Beauty Lash & MesmorEyes

Farleyco sent me new products to try and I was really ecstatic to test them. Previous  shipments produced some real Holy Grail products (ex.: Flexitol Lip Balm) and I was eager to see if I would discover a hidden gem in these new goodies! Let’s find out shall we?

Farleyco

Let’s talk about these new goodies…

EcoTools Facial Mask Mates (10,99$) 🐰

EcoTools Facial Mask Mates (Farleyco)

Environmentally-friendly bamboo handle of the Mask Applicator Brush has soft, flat, cruelty free bristles that evenly apply cream, gel, or clay masks for full, even coverage – mess free.

Three reuseable Mask Remover Sponges, made from natural plant pulp, help to remove excess product while gently exfoliating the skin for a smoother, more radiant appearance.

Who needs a brush to apply your face masks? Not me… or so I thought! Never in a million years would I have ever spent my hard-earned money on this product since I already have all the tools I need (aka my dandy little fingers)! But, Oh! boy was I wrong! After trying this, I can’t imagine not having this brush: it’s so easy and way less messy to apply masks. This is a sure WINNER!

EcoTools Facial Mask Mates

As for the sponges, I could truly kick myself for never considering using these to take off my masks. It’s always time-consuming to rinse a mask with only water but these sponges make it a breeze to clean every little drop of product. So, thank you Farleyco for making my masks’ experience way more enjoyable now! A+++

Available: Select Brunet, Familiprix, Guardian, IDA, Pharma Choice, Pharma Plus, Pharmasave, Rexall, Uniprix, Value Drug Mart & Farleyco

Purple Tree Papaya Miracle Balm (6.99$) 🐰

Purple Tree Papaya Miracle Balm

Its multi-purpose formula can also be used to protect brittle nails and cuticles, and for cosmetic finishes such as taming eyebrows and elongating the appearance of eyelashes.
Made in the UK using key natural ingredients, Purple Tree Miracle Balms are suitable for all skin types and are an essential handbag item.

I REALLY like this multifunctional, “Jack of all Trade” natural balm. I have used it with great results for dry knuckles, fixing my brows and for my cuticles. It also doesn’t hurt that this product smells divine. A handy product to say the least, with great ingredients like natural Papaya extracts, Honey and Safflower Oil.

Note: For the lips it’s wonderful but the scent is almost to strong for my personal preference.

Available: Select Lawtons Drugs, London Drugs, Overwaitea, Pharma Plus, Pharmasave, Rexall & Farleyco

Modèle Collagen Lip Treatment (29.99$)🐰

Modèle Collagen Lip Treatment

Modèle Collagen Lip Treatment restores lip volume, reduces the signs of aging and helps retain moisture.

Time will tell if a regular use of this lip treatment will plump my lips, but frankly, I couldn’t care less! I totally love its hydrating effect and it really soothes my poor chapped lips. The fact that it’s a “bullet lipstick” format is a plus since it’s really easy to apply. I have used it daily for a week now and I’m totally addicted to the softness of my now very much kissable lips 😉

Available: Select Guardian, IDA, Jean Coutu, Pharma Plus, Pharmasave, Rexall & Farleyco

BeautyLash Brow Tint Kit (19,99$)

– 4 shades available: Light Brown, Medium Brown , Dark Brown & Black

BeautyLash Brow Tint Kit

BeautyLash Tinting Kit tints eyelashes and eyebrows draw attention to your eyes without appearing artificial. Eyelashes are longer and eyebrows are being enhanced and receive a clear and defined outline. Grey or white hair is covered up completely and shine in new, fresh colour. The new 2-step tinting system makes it possible to tint eyelashes and eyebrows on your own in only 2 steps. The colour lasts up to 6 weeks and is smudge and water resistant!

I consider myself a professional eyebrow dyer. I do it regularly to cover the gray hairs popping once in a while (4 to be exact), and also to add definition and density to my sparse and light brows. If you never did it, you must try it since it makes a world of difference for framing your face. I’ve been using Just for Men for years now, with great results, and I have to say that this medium Brown color is better for my “caramel” hair color. I must say that I now prefer this BeautyLash product because it’s a very gentle, plant-based formula. The company states that each package is good for about 8 uses but from personal experience, each one will last you double that amount. For reference, I dye mine once a month!!! New favorite for sure…

BeautyLash Brow Tint Kit

Note: It’s also safe to use to dye your lashes but I choose not to test it since I’m clumsy and I’m pretty sure I would get it all over my eyeballs 😀

Available: Select Pharmasave & Farleyco

7th Heaven Creamy Coconut Face Mask (1,99$) 🐰

7th Heaven Creamy Coconut Face Masque

We’ve harnessed the hydrating goodness of fresh Coconut Water and added lots of lovely ingredients to moisturize and hydrate, including super smoothing Shea butter.

These 7th Heaven Masks are affordable and really enjoyable. This particular one did tingle a lot for the first 5 minutes but afterward, it was quite nice! As a result, my skin felt super clean and very hydrated. I also tested it on BeardMan (since there were some product left, and results were the same). A nice product to have, and smells good too!

Available: Select Brunet, Jean Coutu, Proxim, Pharma Plus, Pharmasave, Rexall, Lawtons Drugs, Value Drug Mart& Farleyco

MesmorEyes Collections (12,99$)

– Almond, Hooded, Monolid or Round Shape Eyes –

MesmorEyes Collections

New Collections by MesmorEyes – the only Lash Kit with 3 sets of lash styles (‘Day’, ‘Play’ and ‘Night’) selected for your unique shape. Collections by MesmorEyes has created a first of its kind programme that specifically tells you which false eyelashes suits your eye type.

If you’ve been following my blog for a while, you know that I suck at putting on false eyelashes to the point that I stopped trying. Although I wanted to review these, I ask one of my hooded-eyed friend that usually rocks falsies to test them. She told me that they were very comfortable to wear and perfectly shaped for her eye! They were so fantastic that, at that price, she bought another kit…

MesmorEyes Collections

Available: Amazon.ca Prime, Select Pharmasave, Guardian IDA,  Value Drug, Value Drug Mart Stores & Farleyco

Thank you Lorry  xxx

LaSPA Cruelty-Free Mineral Sunscreens | Review

LaSPA Mineral Sunscreens (Curly Spring Blossom Review) - Cruelty-Free

I’m so excited to write about LaSPA sunscreens for two reasons: first, these products are Made in Canada and second, they are totally EXTRAORDINARY!

Truth be told that, these days I’m going wild at the chance to test new sunscreens, more than any other beauty products. After my step dad got treated for a nasty melanoma (skin cancer) on his nose, I saw first hand the damages that this deadly disease can cause. The surgeon took 1/3 off his nose and reconstructive plastic surgery was much needed afterward. Thank god, after all that ordeal, everything looks great and he is in remission. Don’t ever forget that skin cancer is, for the major part, easily PREVENTABLE. If cancer doesn’t scare you my friends maybe looking like a dry prune in your 40’s should do the trick 😉

Sunscreen should part of your morning routine 365 days a year, rain or shine.

For reference: My skin type is combination/dry & very acne prone.

LaSPA Mineral Sunscreens (Cruelty-Free) Review

SPF 30 Moisturizing Mineral Sunscreen

(40$Cnd for 2.7oz – Online or at a SPA near you)

LaSPA Mineral Sunscreens (Cruelty-Free) Review

Ingredients:

Each Dose Contains Zinc Oxide 20%

NON-MEDICINAL INGREDIENTS: beeswax, bisabolol, caprylic/capric triglyceride, cocos nucifera (coconut) oil, copernicia cerifera (carnauba) wax, isoamyl cocoate, persea gratissima (avocado) oil, tocopherols

This product is hands down one of the best face sunscreen I have ever tried. This product totally blew me away and that says a lot since face sunscreens have always been more misses than hits for me.

Pros:

❃ CRUELTY-FREE 🐰 (It’s NOT Vegan because of the beeswax),

❃ Fragrance-free, Gluten-free & hypoallergenic,

❃ Hydrating – perfect for dry skin,

❃ Contains no color, no paraben or chemical UVA\UVB,

❃ Non-greasy* & non-stiky formula,

❃  100% Natural Source Ingredients,

❃ Makes the PERFECT canvas to use under foundations or BB creams,

❃ No white cast (YAY!!!!!),

❃ Doesn’t break me out at all,

❃ This product is sweat and water-resistant for 80 minutes,

❃ TSA (Transportation Security Administration) approved size for plane requirements,

❃ Great value for the amount you get & the quality of the product.

Cons:

❃  For some reason, it doesn’t work great with loose powder foundation. The foundation looks patchy!

❃ I don’t think oily girls would enjoy this VERY hydrating sunscreen.

*** Note: With every sunscreens tested in recent years, after the 10-hour mark, my face starts to feel oily.

When you first open the tube, you see a thick cream and a formula that is a little bit “grainy”; don’t be afraid since magically, the product will melt onto your skin. All of us know that finding a sunscreen that performs beautifully under our makeup is difficult – this one is so good that it even makes my foundation look better as it acts like a primer, a moisturizer and a sunscreen at the same time! I would totally recommend this product if you want to combine great sunscreen properties, more so if you use makeup on a daily basis. It’s a wonderful product!!

LaSPA Mineral Sunscreens (Cruelty-Free) Review

SPF 20 Daily Sun Protection Lotion

(44$Cnd for 4,2oz – Online or at a SPA near you)

Ingredients:

Each Dose Contains Zinc Oxide 14%

NON-MEDICINAL INGREDIENTS: beeswax, bisabolol, caprylic/capric triglyceride, certified organic cocos nucifera (coconut) oil, copernicia cerifera (carnauba) wax, isoamyl cocoate, persea gratissima (avocado) oil, tocopherols

Pros:

❃ CRUELTY-FREE 🐰 (It’s NOT Vegan because of the beeswax)

❃  100% Natural Source Ingredients,

❃ Fragrance-free, Gluten-free  & hypoallergenic,

❃ Contains no color, no paraben or chemical UVA\UVB,

❃ Non-stiky light formula,

❃ Doesn’t stain my clothes,

❃ Perfect to wear under makeup,

❃ This product is sweat and water-resistant for 80 minutes.

Cons:

❃ It takes some time to dry,

❃ I wish this sunscreen contained a higher SPF – Not a Con per se.

Comparing both products, I prefer LaSpa SPF 30 Moisturizing Mineral Sunscreen since I usually put SPF greater than 30 on my face. That being said, I’ve used this LaSpa SPF 20 Daily Sun Protection Lotion on my neck and neckline for a while now and I do love it a lot, these areas are easier to reapply than redo your full makeup.

Honestly, I had no expectation upon receiving this gorgeous PR Package (#NOT Sponsored) from LaSPA & PK Communications since I didn’t know the brand but it resonated with me and fitted perfectly on my quest to find the best cruelty-free sunscreens available. After testing it regularly, I was pretty excited to share my thoughts. I truly cannot say enough good things on these products! What’s not to love: great value, natural ingredients, made in Canada, cruelty-free & works like a charm under makeup! It’s truly one of the best sunscreen product I’ve used and I’m a LaSpa convert, especially LaSpa SPF30 Moisturizing Mineral Sunscreen, since I prefer better protection and SPF factors.

Important note: Every sunscreens on the market should have an expiration date written on the package if not, don’t buy it. At the same time Spring is a very good time to discard any expired product!

LaSPA Mineral Sunscreens (Cruelty-Free) Review

The difference between Mineral & Synthetic Sunscreens:

Mineral Sunscreens:

There are only two mineral sunscreen ingredients: titanium dioxide and zinc oxide

Begin to work immediately on application, but must be absorbed to be most effective and to ensure they don’t wipe off on clothing.

Have almost no risk of irritating skin.

May leave a white cast, especially on darker skin tones, but the best pure mineral sunscreens go on invisibly.

May need more careful, liberal application because of the way they work in formulas. So, go ahead, slather these on for brilliant protection!

Why Zinc Oxide is better:

Zinc Oxide provides a broad spectrum protection against both UVA/UVB rays whereas chemical filters don’t necessarily provide this function

Zinc Oxide is effective immediately upon application, whereas chemical filters need approximately 20 minutes to be absorbed

Zinc Oxide reduces or eliminates the risk of allergies or skin irritation that can be caused by the chemicals used in chemical sun filters

Zinc Oxide avoids the risk of health issues that have been documented concerning the cumulative effects of chemical sunscreen ingredients on reproductive health (see below for a further discussion on Sunscreen Ingredients).

Synthetic (Chemicals) Sunscreens:

Common synthetic sunscreen ingredients include oxybenzone, octinoxate, octisalate, and avobenzone.

Begin to work immediately on application, but must be absorbed to be most effective and to ensure they don’t wipe off on clothing.

Are generally found in products with thinner textures.

Tend to be preferred for water-resistant formulas because they don’t turn milky-looking when you sweat or get wet. But, as with any sunscreen, you must reapply them often.

Can be sensitizing for those with extra-sensitive skin.

Enjoy the outdoors & the upcoming beautiful summer

My “Beauty Collection” Goals | 2018

My

I thought I would use the word GOALS instead of resolutions since these never stick anyway. Goals seem more empowering, don’t you think? Beauty-wise, 2017 has been the most interesting year ever: due to my low-buy (look at that, a resolution that worked 😉), I managed to purchase only 3 products from January to the end of October 2017! Then, the VIB sale came and although I did some serious damage, I only bought the items that I needed or REALLY wanted! That transitional year needed to happen since my makeup & skincare collection was ridiculously out of control.

2017 was also the Year of Decluttering: to get rid of 80% of my entire collection was eye opening to say the least. I now enjoy my small (but practical) collection composed of products that I LOVE and that work for me. Still, when BeardMan looks at our bathroom cupboards or vanity, he still thinks that I have a ton of stuff but, now, he can get out of the shower without stepping on a brush, a box of unplaced products or Sephora bags still untouched…

Here are my 5 Beauty Goals for 2018

Quality over Quantity

I don’t want to accumulate a large makeup & skincare collection EVER AGAIN. I was disgusted when I had to throw in the GARBAGE thousands of dollars of barely used beauty products and I SWORE it would never happen.

No More than 5 Items in the Same Category

The makeup addict that I am will still want the best of the best cruelty-free products but  my goal is, at the end of the year, to own no more than 5 items in a same category (Smaller/Deluxe formats don’t count). The only exception is for eyeshadow palettes; I don’t think I can declutter as much to only have five left.

Declutter further More

Since I just mentioned the D word again, I need to declutter at least 10% of my collection. If I want to achieve my goal to only have 5 products in each category, this new wave of decluttering needs to happen and I frankly can’t wait to do it.

Stay Away from the Sales

When reflecting on how I accumulated so much stuff in the past, I always reach the same conclusion: it’s not because it’s on sale that I need to buy 10. I swear I had no need to buy any shampoos, bath products or body creams for the last 3 years and I still don’t believe that in 2018, I will achieve using all the products that have been gathering dust in my bathroom. One backup product is PLENTY and I’m ok with paying the full price if needed instead of pilling products! Anyway, I always want to try new stuff anyway…

Note: Oniomania?!? Does that ring a bell? Oniomania, from greek words Onios – For Sale & Mania – Insanity, more commonly known as Compulsive Buyer Disorder, is characterized by an obsession with buying and shopping…

Writing the Purchase Date on Every Product

I absolutely need to write a purchase date on all makeup & skincare items to remind myself to use them or to know when to throw them out. Even if I don’t always follow the expiration guide on makeup products, I don’t want to apply something I had for more than 3 years for makeup and one year for skincare. Now, I try my very best to choose skincare that have an expiration date on it so it’s easier to rotate between products.

As you can see, I’ve adopted my minimalist “Beauty” collection with serenity and enthusiasm. Seriously, I can’t wait to buy a new eyeshadow palette every year, use it up as much as I can, throw it out and purchase another one for the following year. In 2017, decluttering the first item was the worst but after that first step, I couldn’t stop decluttering. My new MOTTO is: If I haven’t use an item for the past 6 months, it’s maybe time to declutter it!

Disclaimer: If you are wondering why I throw all this makeup in the garbage it’s simply because no family members or friends wanted them. 95% don’t wear makeup and the ones that do are still stuck with the load of products I gave away the year before. I also tried to donate it to charity but all women organizations that I’ve contacted don’t take “used” beauty products! This is the sad part about my decluttering…
