Makeup Declutter Series 2017| Eyeliners & Lip Liners

Makeup Declutter Series 2017| Eyeliners & Lip Liners (Curly Spring Blossom)

FINALLY, my massive declutter is overrrrrr! I now went through my whole collection, catalogued everything (in my mind at least) and the products I’ve kept will last all year, until my next major declutter, at the end of this year. If I have to do this all over again at some point, I’ll probably throw everything in the dumpster and start anew. Hmmm! Not a bad idea but quite an expensive one! From now on, the products that I will buy, I will hit pan, squeeze the life out of them or melt them away and combine them into other products or maybe into a skillet to hit me over the head once in awhile!!!

So let’s get over this as quick and painless as possible….

Bye Bye to 39 Eyeliners

Since I have severe hooded eyes and some newfound eyelids drooping – a condition called ptosis arising from the normal (but shitty) aging process, eye liners are definitely not my best friend (liquid eyeliners are a definite no-no). Knowing all these nice and new features about myself, how on earth did I manage to buy that many (and a lot are not even open).

I kept a few, just in case, and they are mostly pastel or brown since I don’t do black. I really don’t force myself to become an eyeliner aficionado since, with my facial features, the basic principles of makeup suggest applying eyeshadow if I want to define my upper lash area.

Bye Bye To 9 Lip Liners

My allergy to eye liners didn’t really help my love for Lip Liners. These aversions probably come from my lack of any drawing talent whatsoever (I have difficulty drawing a stickman)… And since I’m more of a lip gloss girl (the glossier the better), lip liners are definitely not a makeup item that I use on a regular basis! When I do use one, it’s just to apply all over my lips and cover it with a gloss. Since I will always be a nude/pinky/peachy lover (for my lips that is), I normally go for a very neutral liner. From now on, 2 or 3 in my collection are plenty.

Makeup Declutter Series 2017| Blushes, Bronzers & Eye Shadows

Makeup Declutter Series 2017 (Curly Spring Blossom)

When I first started purging my makeup collection, I felt like a child who had to give away her Barbies, all of her dolls and stuffed animals and probably all the money in her piggy bank! Makeup items are MY toys and it is very hard to give up! After a few decluttering events, I have to say that now, it’s almost fun to do. Decluttering can become very addictive when you start doing it. Keep watching and in March or April, I will show my entire collection and you will see that, even though it seems that I’ve thrown away half of my stash, I’m still far from becoming a minimalist – I still have a rather big collection! Hopefully, 2017 will be the frugal year or the year that I was able to shrink that ridiculous amount of products! I’m a woman on a mission… Pan, pan …and PAN !

Note: Beardman was making the observation that my pictures for that series were not on par with my usual images. I told him that throwing products in the garbage is not a source of inspiration to produce photographic masterpieces. It’s more a case of getting things done as fast as I can and not dwell to much on the aftershocks.

Bye Bye to 13 Blushes

I’ve known for a long time (and wrote about it repeatedly) that I’m a palette girl and unfortunately, it also affects my love for blushes. As a result, I’m getting rid of all my single cheeks’ products, with a couple of exceptions. With all the Nars, Hourglass & Viseart blush palettes on the market, it’s a more practical and economic choice to go for these rather than those single formats! So, Adios!

Bye Bye to 5 Bronzers

Too dark or too shimmery, these five products will not be missed a bit either. I could get rid of so many more bronzers but, anxiety kicked in and, I guess I panicked with this category. At the end of the year, I’ll try to get rid of at least 5 others…

Bye Bye to 30 Single Eye Shadows

(+ one quad and the KVD Saint eyeshadow palette)

Same thing as for blushes, I’m a palette girl. Single shadows take too much space and with my busy mornings, I don’t have time to go through all these singles to find that special tint. I kept my 20 favorites and that’s it! Half of them were new, as “never even swatched” new, crazy right?

Makeup Declutter Series 2017 | Eyeshadow Palettes

Bye-Bye to 10 Eyeshadow Palettes…

I’m a little sad about discarding these eyeshadow palettes. All of them contain good quality shadows (except maybe Cargo that is just so-so). My hoarder genes made sure that these palettes all made it through last year’s decluttering, but this year, I’ve decided that enough is enough and keeping them just to gather dust on my shelves is stupid so, it’s time to let them go and focus on better ones that I want to use up (or at least try to)!

Once again, they will end up at my niece and she’ll do what she wants with them; I guess she’ll be sharing with her friends or maybe just throw them away.

Decluttering is very hard and frustrating but when my mind is made up, I feel very proud and content to move on. In the future, I would like to only have a maximum of 5 palettes at a time, and rotate. Honestly, who needs more anyway (it’s not like I go out every night). Realistically in 5 years, I should get to this goal ! It’s not every year that I decide to let go of 10 upscale and unused palettes, but it has to be done and after this massive decluttering, I kept “La Crème de la Crème” and still own about 30. My entire collection will be featured in future posts after all this decluttering is done.

So it’s 🎶“So Long, Farewell, Auf Wiedersehen, Good Bye”🎶 to 10 palettes! I am still heartbroken of letting go two of them: Urban Decay’s Femine Palette and Stila’s In The Light. Their quality is impeccable but the UD one is kinda old (AC/DC will always be my favorite purple color ever) and the packaging on Stila’s looks so cheap that I forget to use it.

Note: I didn’t swatch or show them more since the majority of them are no more available…
