Hey friends, with the scorching weather outside, very unusual for September, it’s tough to imagine that we are at that time of the year, when all our beloved anticipated Holidays releases are gracing Sephora shelves at such a rhythm that it’s hard to keep up. And honestly, when I look at all the previews, our poor wallets are in for a massive choc!
The sole purpose of this post is to fill your beauty lovers’ hearts with all the products you are lusting over, in a cruelty-free* way of course!🐰 (* The Sephora Favorites sets include some products that are Test on Animals)
Little question: What is the ONE thing will buy no matter what?
Since Spring has blessed us with more snow than usual, what’s the best remedy to cheer us up (and empty our wallet)? A Sephora VIB Sale… Since I did so many recommendations’ posts over the past 2 years, I thought it would be refreshing to make this one a Cruelty-Free version. Looking at my actual makeup collection, I’m pleased to say that 60% or more of my stash is now CF. So let’s have some fun, without arming any rats, dogs, monkeys and cats for our personal vanity.
🐰 Most popular Cruelty-Free makeup brands found at Sephora 🐰
Note: I’ve tried all these products, so these recommendations are based on my own personal preferences. Since I don’t have a favorite mascara and I don’t use pencil or liquid eyeliners, I didn’t give any suggestion for these categories!
Note #2: OMG! Did you know that Laura Mercier was Cruelty-Free? This fact just made my day, week and year. I had to rewrite my post when the Laura Mercier team personally confirmed it by email last week. I’m beyond happy!
One word: VISEART. I know they seem expensive when you just look at the price for a single eyeshadow palette but when you consider the price per gram, it gets really affordable. I wouldn’t recommend the shimmer ones but all the mattes are to die for. You can’t go wrong with these: Neutral Mattes (01), Warm Neutral Mattes (VPE10) or the Cool Mattes (07)!! Best quality: period!
Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Eye Shadow Palette
It’s unanimous: this palette is AWESOME. I’ve had the chance to play with it and I was mostly impressed by its versatility; it’s unbelievable how many looks you can achieve with it. Beautiful colors and really exquisite formula.
If I had to compare KvD’s Shade + Light Eye Contour Palette and Viseart’s Neutral Mattes (01), hands down I would go for the Viseart. That being said, I still enjoy my KVD palette every time I use it. On a budget, this is still a great choice.
Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palettes
All the new Too Faced releases have been inconsistent and some eyeshadow palettes fell very short in the quality department. These products may be older and less trendy but the Original Chocolate Bar, the Semi-Sweet Chocolate Bar & the Chocolate Bonbons are still very good choices. My favorite out of the three is probably the Semi-Sweet. And they smell sooo good!!!
Nobody talks about the Original Tartelette palette anymore and it’s a shame since it’s a damn good product. The Tartelette in Bloom seems to also be a cult favorite. I’m a matte and neutral eyeshadow girl so this palette is perfect for me. A hooded eyes must-have!
This is first and foremost a transition shade palette. As much as I like it, you can’t use it to create a whole look because the shades will all blend together. The formula is powdery but so long lasting on your crease. Again, these are best used individually or paired with another palette.
I own six of these!! Let me tell you, I have spent so many $$$ for the perfect cream shadow/eyeliner, the one that won’t smudge, smear, crease and wear off, etc… Finally, Voilà! The fun thing about Nudestyx is that you can choose between matte shades or shimmery ones.
Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Colour
I only use these LM Caviar Sticks on my lower lash, or as my regular eyeliner replacement. If you have hooded or droopy eyes, you will love that it doesn’t transfer and stay put all day long.
With NARSissist Unfiltered Cheek Palettes you do have big bang for your bucks. That’s why I will always prefer palette over single formats: a better value for money. I also prefer palette for storage purposes… If you haven’t tried Nars blushes yet, This VIB Sale is the perfect time to see what the hype is all about.
Viseart Blush Palettes
Viseart Blush Palettes are top notch. Again the price is steep but it’s like paying $16Cnd per blush which is not bad at all for that top quality and mostly, that intense pigmentation.
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush
I did not give Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush great reviews at first but it was just a question of finding the right brush to use with it. These are the only singles that I will repurchase over and over again. If you like a gorgeous natural finish that stay put all day, grab one of these beauties.
Tarte Amazonian Clay Waterproof Bronzer has been a favorite of mine for years now. Unfortunately (but great for me – never on backorder 😉), this product have always been under the radar. With its perfect shade and its waterproof properties, it’s perfect for summer.
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Bronzer
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Bronzer are to die for. Hourglass knocked it out of the park again! This radiant shade makes my light skin look just like I spent the day sunbathing on a beach somewhere, without getting sand everywhere (but without the sound of waves crashing …)!
Last month, I rediscover this Nars Light Reflecting Loose Setting Powder. This finely milled powder gives such a beautiful, flawless finish to my skin. Yes, you will get flashbacks if you take selfies every 20 minutes but for the mortal girl like myself, this is a gem.
Cover FX Perfect Setting Powder
I feel that Cover FX Perfect Setting Powder gives the same beautiful finish as my beloved Laura Mercier translucent powder, but at lesser cost. This formula is also TALC- Free…
If you want your makeup to last all day, this product is hands down the best and only foundation that last 12 hours without budging. I swear, after my overlong days of work, my makeup looks the same as when I applied it in the morning. I won’t ever be without this BB cream in my stash. As a reference, the light-medium shade is alright for my light skin even if it oxidizes a tiny bit. The SPF 30 is also a huge bonus.
This bareMinerals product is my first choice for those Summer months (for some reasons, it doesn’t work well during Winter). It’s lightweight, affordable, natural looking , comes in 16 different colors and has a SPF 30; all those qualities make it the perfect choice for a fresh “makeup, no makeup look”.
Smashbox Studio Skin 15 Hour Hydrating Foundation
Smashbox Studio Skin 15 Hour Hydrating Foundation is such an underrated foundation and honestly, I don’t know why. This formula gives a medium coverage without looking too heavy. This product is a better version of products like Lancôme Teint Idole.
Nars Sheer Glow Foundation
Some of us like foundations that come with a pump. If you don’t care about this feature (because this one doesn’t have one), you should love the dewy finish it creates. If you have fair to light skin, Nars is the brand that offers the best shade selection.
Josie Maran Argan Daily Moisturizer SPF 47 Protect and Perfect
I bought this sunscreen/foundation during the last VIB sale and it blew me away. Even if it’s a little bit dark for my skin, in Summer, it will give me the most beautiful bronzy glow while still protect my skin from those bad UV rays. You have no idea how much I received compliments the 4 times I wore this Josie Maran product. If you prefer, there is a colourless version too.
Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer
I chose this one instead of the Nars Tinted moisturizer since the Laura Mercier offers a better finish. It gives me a very natural appearance but still has the properties to cover my dark spots or my acne scars. It’s perfect for every occasions, from my usual work days to my casual look during vacations or even for small events with family and friends.
Absolutely one of my best discoveries of 2016. The format is way too small to be used as a foundation but as a concealer, this is a superb product if you have dry undereye and/or mature skin. It’s very creamy and all you need is a tiny bit on your finger. This rms Beauty Un Cover-up Concealer should last almost two years.
OK, if you buy this product because you like the packaging or presentation, something’s wrong with you; the packaging sucks big time!! However, the product is great! My only suggestion is that you don’t even consider it if youhave very dark circles,it’s just not opaque enough. This serum formula is also perfect if you have mature skin.
Becca Under Eye Brightening Corrector
Everyday I put a little bit of this Becca Under Eye Brightening Corrector under my regular concealer to hide some rednesses. Again, as I’m not getting any younger, it works great for mature skin: while it gives a nice luminous effect to my undereye area, it doesn’t settle into fines lines or crease.
Tarte Colored Clay CC Undereye Corrector
I don’t have dark circles but I surely suffer from discolouration, rednesses and some brown spots! This product acts just like a Staedtler Eraser, it corrects and gives a perfect canvas. Plus, it glides on the skin so smoothly, you don’t have to be Salvatore Dali to create the perfect texture.
Sadly not available in Canada but by far, the best face primer I’ve ever tried. This is the only primer (in theory, it’s not a primer but a sunscreen) that blurs my pores and makes my skin truly smoother (texture wise). By comparison, it’s WAY better than the critically acclaimed Nars Mineral Veil Primer. I’m smitten with this Coola Daydream Mineral Primer SPF 30 and I just can’t wait for BeardMan to go back to USA and replenish my stash…
Hands down, my all-time favorite highlighter. When the effects of age are causing some fine lines and texture appearances, this is the best product to use. It looks so natural, it’s the most beautiful highlight that doesn’t look like a glitter bomb! I won’t ever be without it. The key word here is radiance!
I own Kevyn Aucoin The Celestial Powder in Starlight and Candlelight and both give that natural glow from within. If you have mature skin or texture, you will surely adore the subtle effect that they bring.
It’s all about Anastasia Beverly Hills. I use the Dipbrow Pomade, the Brow Wiz, Clear Brow Gel and the Brow Powder Duo. I’ve tried other products from a lot of different brands but I ALWAYS come back to Anastasia Beverly Hills. These are just the best.
I just adore this non-drying lipstick and its creamy formula. Bite’s lipsticks are food-grade so in theory, you could eat them (never tried them on my morning toasts). Plus, Bite shade selections are numerous and so beautiful, it’s though to choose just one. From now on, these are the only lipsticks I will buy (1 lipstick per year is enough for me since I’m more of a lip gloss junkie).
When I began to write this post, I really thought that I would have problems finding great products for every category, but I’ve realized that it’s pretty easy to go cruelty-free on makeup. Take my word for it, all these products are outstanding and of exceptional quality.
Winter has come and gone since I’ve done a Wednesday Obsession’s post but this product was so overwhelmingly perfect, that I had to get out of my hibernation and kickstart this series back.
Going through my stash (and after my massive decluttering), I’ve noticed that I was kind of short on my eye makeup remover supply, so I sorted through my bag of samples and found this Sephora Collection Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover and I immediately started to test it, because at this point, all of the ones I’ve tried this year just weren’t good enough to tell the world. But after a week of using this Sephora Eye Makeup Remover, I’m amazed at how easy this formula takes off any eye makeup; with just one swap (ok maybe two, but you get the point), everything is GONE!!! I may have just found my Holy Grail right there and on the plus side, this 6.76oz bottle retails for only $19Cnd, which is not that bad for a product of this quality.
♥ Eye makeup just glides right off (ZERO makeup left),
♥ No need to scrub,
♥ Doesn’t sting my eyes,
♥ Really affordable,
♥ Doesn’t create a lot of oily residue.
♥ Although the brand states that this product wasn’t tested on animals, Sephora Collection products are NOT, to my knowledge, cruelty- free). Grey zone here!
For the price, it’s by far the best Eye Makeup Remover I’ve tried. Waterproof makeup and brow pommade just don’t stand a chance with this EFFECTIVE product. I’ve used the “cult favorite” Lancôme BI-FACIL-Double-Action Eye Makeup Remover before ($39Cnd for 4.2oz), and I much prefer this one. As you know, Sephora 15% sale (for VIB Rouge) is coming in April, and since I’m still on my 2017 No-Buy/Low-Buy, it will takes fantastic products to make me deviate from my commitment, but this product delivers BIG TIME!!! Already in the cart!
Note: Reviews on the Sephora website are agreeing with me 😉
