Tresemmé Expert Selection ❥ Beauty-Full Volume

TRESemmé Beauty-Full Volume Collection Review

I’m not an haircare specialist nor enthusiast! I’m seriously the worst when it comes to hairstyling and colouring, that’s why I’m always sporting the usual messy buns or ponytails…  On top of not being savvy, I have the worst curly, frizzy, over-processed mop of hair…   fully justifying the bun! Remember Merida from the Disney movie “Brave”? Imagine her in blonde and you get my set of hair…

When Tresemmé sent me this beautiful package, I was very flattered but I didn’t jump for joy; for me, a shampoo is a shampoo and I rarely see/feel a real difference between brands… In the last year, I’ve tried numerous high-end hair products and they all failed at doing the basics: Cleaning my hair and feeling refreshed (Should I give names??!!!).

TRESemmé Beauty-Full Volume Collection Review

Coming back to Tresemmé, I have to say that this system (Shampoo, Conditioner & Hair Maximizer) is perfect for my hair type. Personally, there are 3 things that I’m looking for in any hair product:

Priority # 1: It has to smell good … If green apple is your thing, you will greatly enjoy that fruity scent from Tresemmé new hair treatment system,

Priority # 2: I need to feel that my scalp & hair are super clean. This system does the job A+++

Priority # 3: Last but not least, as much as it can be expected on my particular hair, I like products that make my hair feel soft.

From the website:

Using conditioner after you shampoo can weigh hair down and leave it flat. With our new revolutionary Reverse System, use the pre-wash conditioner first to soften hair. Follow with our shampoo, with Fleximax™ Volumizers, to wash away weight. Then style to get beautiful voluminous and bouncy hair that feels as great as it looks.

How cool is that: 3 products that can easily be found at any drugstore with a pricing that everybody can afford. For me, Tresemmé has come up with a perfect formula!

The novelty about this system is that you are supposed to put the conditioner first and then, shampoo your hair… I’ve tried it numerous times and I have to admit that with all my curls & super long hair, I still have to put a little bit of conditioner after the shampoo to make it easier to detangle. It also works beautifully the regular way: shampoo then conditioner !

TRESemmé Beauty-Full Volume Collection Review

As for the volumizing effect, I personally can’t say that there was a big change in my already voluminous hair! When are the ’80s hair styles coming back, I would be so trendy!!! All in all, Tresemmé made my hair feel fresh, clean, smell like an apple orchard, and greatly simplified all the detangling and styling. Plus, my hair were shinier and as it is more delicate!

Give it a try,  I’m sure you’ll appreciate this new system… I highly recommend !!!

Note: Last week, I was at Beardman’s and I was using all the shampoos that were in the shower  (3 different brands, should I be worried???) and I was missing my Tresemmé so badly.

Have a beautiful hairday my beauties 😉

After Christmas Deals “Xmas” Blog|December 5

I get all excited in September when all the Holiday makeup/beauty sets are coming our way. It’s the best time ever for a makeup junkie like me (the most expensive too !!!). During that period, it’s pretty rare to see deals or any sale whatsoever, so I expect to pay big bucks (and accept it in a way). Like I said before, a real junkie who can’t control the urge of appeasing her addiction. On the other hand, when you reach Christmas time, you also expect all those big deals after the Holidays!!! Totally the best time to buy a lot of stuff for the coming year and regarnish your inventory (as if I let my stock go down)!!! I really am savvy (you may even call me cheap) when it comes for certain items.

So with no further ado, here are the products (brands) everybody should look for after Christmas… I’m telling you that as these days get closer, I feel more and more like MY Christmas is arriving!!!”

Note: Don’t quote me, it’s just based on past experiences from, at least, the last 5 years.

Starting on Boxing Day, Lush have a «Buy 1 get 1 free» deal on all their Holiday gifts, and we all know that they can be pricey. I have two nieces (truly Lush biggest fans) and when I ask them if they want a 50$ Lush gift set at Christmas or a 100$ one after Christmas, what do you think they choose – D’Oh !?!  For the «Buy 1 Get 1», you don’t even have to choose the same one, and even all their holiday products are 2 or 3 for one… So for me it’s a no brainer: I buy all my Lush after Christmas and it’s been like that for the last 10 years. And I kid you not, the things I get last me almost all year long.

Bath & Body Works

I don’t care if you are judging me but I have NEVER or will NEVER buy something from BBW at regular price! Why should I ?!? What I do is wait after Christmas when they have their 75% off big January sale  + a 10$ off of a 30$ purchase coupon sent to everyone on their mailing list. I don’t have to tell you that I get a ton of products for a tiny amount $$$. You can easily see me buy summer products & candles at the beginning of January. I always snatch the big candles for less than 5$ and all their body & home products for 3$ or less. BTW candles don’t have an expiration date 😉

Note: The same thing applies to store like The Body Shop. Think of a big jar of their famous scrubs or body butter for 5$, that makes me really happy!!!

Christmas Decorations

If you ask me when is the best time to buy all your Christmas decorations, I will tell you the week after Christmas when everyone is fed up with the Holiday stuff and the last thing on their minds is decorations. Well the frugal gal that I am is shopping crazy during these specific days and I buy all those super expensive stuff at a fraction of the cost. Think cards, ornaments, Holiday dishes, table services, etc… Even little things for next year’s hostess gifts, why not?!?

Limited Edition Sets

Stores like Sephora are really quick to put the Limited Edition holiday sets on sale after Christmas (or before)! Usually they also give you a 20% off their sale section items just after the Holidays. Normally, I find some great stuff there! Of course you won’t find any Best Sellers there but still, I almost buy all my skincare & nail polishes during this sale (+ 20% off).

*At the Drugstores*

A lot of brands are concocting some special sets for the Holidays and drugstores are super quick to put them at 50% off.  Expect to make some sweet deals after Christmas for some high-end stuff. In Canada I love going to Shoppers Drug Mart. Brush sets are also on sale & don’t forget perfume sets.

Planners & Calendars

Trust me, it’s worth not having a planner for a week or so in January to have the chance to buy an expensive one for the price of a low-end product. The same goes for these beautiful calendars that are always in the midlle of all shopping malls and cost 20$ each. They usually drop to 75% off 2 weeks after Christmas. I’m a planner girl; truthfully I cannot live without it and I love nicer ones I guess, but  I don’t like to shove the big dough for them  😊

Hope it was helpful if some of you are as frugal as I am !!!

Drugstore’s prices are going up!!!

I almost had a heart attack when I visited my local drugstore this week and saw Revlon’s Colorstay Foundation for 18.99$CND. You heard me right!!! What? When? Why? Did I miss the note, email, text message or carrier pigeon saying that from now on, they would double the price of all their products? I do own a Revlon Colorstay foundation from a year ago with a price tag still stuck to it: 6.99$ (Note: I hate that watery foundation) … So, a year later, Voila! a 12$ increase! Next to the Revlon section, sits the L’Oréal display with their “La Palette Nude” on sale for 27.99$ What? When? Why? Unless one of you tells me that this eyeshadow palette is the 8th wonder of the world, I think we can no longer claim that drugstore means AFFORDABLE!

That day, I was eyeing all these products and more than 75% of them were now over 10$. Random nail polishes at 7.99$, lipsticks and glosses over 10$, and so many others overpriced. In this economy, bargain hunting is now a sport that we have to excel in (flyers and coupons here I come)!!! I don’t know if I was brought up correctly or am I just plain cheap, I refuse to buy the full asking price for drugstore products. Am I the only one?!? I mean, products DO go on sale or on clearance (lucky us!), because of all those ever-changing collections and product developments that occurs, mainly with the popular brands like Maybelline, L’Oréal, Revlon ...

Am I ranting for nothing? Are the new prices a result of superior qualities, larger amounts of product, trends??? As I always try to get my hard-earned money’s worth, I can easily prove that you get better value for money buying the upcoming Holiday value sets from let’s say Sephora than generic drugstore items … Let’s have some fun shall we? I just bought the new Sephora Favorites “Brow Raising Brow Wardrobe” for 48$CAN (40$US). With the exception of Kat Von D’s Tattoo Brow that I still have to test the longevity, we will agree that all items included are superstar products?!! At Ulta, the same 40$ gets me, at regular price :

Revlon Tweezer 6.99$ (The cheapest I could find)

NYX Brow pencil 9.99$ (Amazing!I love this pencil)

NYX Eyebrow Push-Up Bra 9.99$

Maybelline Brow Precise Shaping Pencil 7.99$

Ulta Eyebrow gel 6.00$ …

Sephora Favorites Brow Raising 2015

Sephora Favorites Brow Raising 2015

I am already at 41$ (while omitting the KVD and of course, the random mirror!). For me, based on a simple quality-price ratio, it’s a no-brainer! For the same price, to be able to get high-quality products in Sephora’s value set is a deal, but also a steal. Maybe drugstores are just trying to get hold of those compulsive buyers or maybe they are capitalizing on a our long-established perception that drugstore’s products are just inexpensive.😏

Is it just a Canadian thing or worldwide trend? Is the gap between drugstores and higher brands getting narrower by the minute? I am not talking about Chanel, Tom Ford, Charlotte Tillbury here,  I consider those more as luxury items…

Give me your thoughts on the matter!!!

Have a great week
