Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit – Volume 3 | Holiday 2017

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit – Volume 3 | Review & Swatches

Yes my friends, I bit the bullet and purchased the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit Volume 3 palette. I’ve been wanting Volume 1 or 2 for so long and always passed, but this one had my name written all over it.

95$CND later, do I love it? Yessssssss. Is it worth it? Yessssssssssssssssssss.

Note: I know that this palette is SADLY out of stock, but I still wanted to review it for you since many of these powders can be purchased individually.

What’s Included

6 pans (mini size), each one containing  0.04oz (Total 0.24 oz) – Made in Italy

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit – Volume 3 | Review & Swatches

Ambient Lighting Powder in Dim Light (neutral peach beige powder), Diffused Light (soft, warm pale yellow powder)
Ambient Lighting Blush in Surreal Halo (deep berry blush fused with surreal light), Pur Effect (bright petal pink fused with a glimmering rose)

Ambient Lighting Bronzer in Luminous Bronze Light (a medium bronze shade fused with Luminous Light for a softer, candlelit warmth)
Ambient Strobe Lighting Powder in Hypnotic Strobe Light (champagne powder infused with multidimensional pearl)

Great Value?

Is it a good value, the simple answer is NO. By gram of product, this is the worst investment ever. However, I do own full size Hourglass powders and believe me, some take forever to pan, so I see it as having 6 minis which sold separately would have cost a bundle (6 x 32$ = 192$!)

Fair to Light Skin Friendly?

Hourglass products seem to be oriented more towards light to medium skintones. This palette is “darker” than Volume 2 but is still appropriate for light skintones.

Same Formula?

Formula wise, these are exactly the same as their full size counterparts. These powders are simply magical. They blend so easily and give that glow from within. Just a casual warning though: They are addictive, you will want more and more… Another observation: Contrary to some other brands (Tarte, Too Faced just to name a few), I feel that Hourglass doesn’t cheap out and try profit from the Holiday buzz.

Closer Eye On Each Powder

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit – Volume 3 | Review & Swatches

Ambient Strobe Lighting Powder in Hypnotic Strobe Light: This is the only powder that I’m not madly in love with.  It’s a nice highlighter, but a little too shimmery for my taste. I still use it on the high points of my cheekbones, nose and cupid bow. As a single, I wouldn’t buy a full size as I prefer Laura Mercier (Matte Radiance Baked Powder Compact 01) & Kevyn Aucoin (The Celestial Highlighting Powders in Candlelight & Starlight) highlighters .

Ambient Lighting Blush in Surreal Halo & Pur Effect: These blushes are PIGMENTED! On my light skin, I just need to slightly tap my brush in the powder and I have enough product for both my cheeks. It’s a clear shift from my ultimate favorite Hourglass (Ethereal Glow) but I’m digging these A LOT!

Ambient Lighting Bronzer in Luminous Bronze Light: Although my perfect shade from this line is Nude Bronze Light, this one actually works very nice too. I take a small fluffy brush and apply gently on the top of my cheeks and forehead for a very subtle glow.

Ambient Lighting Powder in Dim LightDiffused Light: I own the full size of Dim Light and I use it mainly in summer as a finishing powder all over my face. I feel it gives the nicest fresh glow ever. For Diffused Light, I mostly use it to set my undereye concealer and it’s so pretty. The only problem is that I’m pretty sure I will pan this within 1 to 2 months, since there is already a dent😩. I will likely buy a full size of this one during the next Spring VIB Sale to replace my rapidly shrinking Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder.

I’m totally ga-ga over this beauty. I like the convenience of having 6 different powders in one stunning compact. But keep in mind that you have to use small brushes for a perfect application (I use Sephora Pros Brushes # 74, 79 & 90) since the pans are very small. To put it simply, Hourglass makes one of the most beautiful cruelty-free powders out there. It’s expensive like hell but heck we only live once (I keep telling that to myself and BeardMan – mostly to justify my spending)! 😉

Have a beautiful day my beauties!

Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer | Review

Project Pan 12 Fall 2016

Welcome to  WEEK 11 of our Project Pan 12; ONE more week to empty my remaining products and for today’s featured item, I concede defeat; there is no way I’ll finish this primer!!!

As always, be sure to look at my Blogging partners in this year’s PP: Brainy Stashy (StashMatters), Sassy Jodi (ABrashAttitude) and Delightful Chanelle (Chanelle Hayley). This week’s featured product is the cult favourite Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer; a still very full cult favourite Hourglass…

Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer Review

The claim:

This clean, satin-finish formula helps keep makeup looking fresh and prevents fading. Veil Mineral Primer also absorbs excess oils and minimizes the appearance of pores by evenly distributing light to help hide and soften the look of skin imperfections and fine lines.

This water-resistant primer is also 100 percent free of fragrance, oil, paraben and gluten.

Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer Review

At Sephora: $24Cnd ($19US)to $87Cnd ($75US) depending of the size (0.33oz, 1oz or 2oz)

♥ Perfect for the T-Zone as it really blurs my pores and creates a splendid canvas,

♥ This product is waterproof/sweat proof,

♥ Doesn’t cause any breakouts or any irritation on my sensible skin,

♥ Makes my skin feel so soft and perfect for my makeup,

♥ This formula is one of the few that doesn’t emphasize dry patches,

Vegan & cruelty-free.

Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer Review

♥ Pricier than most primers but you need just a little bit, as it blends effortlessly,

♥This primer doesn’t extend my makeup, I have maybe 1 or 2 hours of extended makeup wear before my foundation starts to break down,

♥ After a year in my stash, the formula’s consistency changed, so use it preferably within 6 months to one year after purchase (or buy a smaller format).

Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer Review

In Summary:

Normally, a primer serves two purposes: filling fine lines and smoothing pores, and keeping your makeup fresh all day. This product excels at masking those small defects, but for extending makeup durability, the effects are just not apparent. I absolutely love this primer but unfortunately it doesn’t pair well with my bareMinerals Complexion Rescue Gel that I have been obsessed with for the last 6 months. The two don’t match for some reasons. I’ve neglected this primer so much so that it’s still full. I’m so addicted to my bareMinerals foundation, that choosing this Hourglass Mineral Primer for this Project was maybe an error on my part; I just couldn’t let go of my bareMinerals. Shame on me !!!

Will I repurchase: YES! I’m rating this product 8,5/10. This is a solid primer and the hype is justified. Like I said, I would suggest buying a smaller format since you need so little and to be sure that it doesn’t go bad on you!

Project Recap…

Very happy with this Project Pan! Out of the 12 chosen products, I will have finish nine!!! (Happy Dance)…  With one week to go, it will be a breeze. I just think of all my other products winking at me, waiting to be used (or wanting to make THE list for my next Project Pan). Products have feelings too … 😉

Don’t forget to go have a look at week 11 of Stashy (StashMatters), Jodi (ABrashAttitude) and Chanelle (Chanelle Hayley)

June Favorites ❥ 2016

June Favorites 2016

Time is flying way too fast these days! Summer just started and winter clothes are slowly showing in some boutiques. Next thing you know, we will be buying those dark fall shades. Seems that we have to resign ourselves and just adapt to our perpetual changes of seasons. Speaking of changes, my skincare and makeup routine has evolved so much during the last 3 months that content with my makeup is an understatement; I feel youthful (well, as much as a 4-0 old gal can be!). I’m gravitating towards more natural finishes and less towards powdery, cakey face.

Nails (Feet)

deborah lippmann Lara’s Theme & Sonia Kashuk no 3 – no 4

June Favorites 2016

Are there colors that cry out summer more other than coral, orange and pink? Nope! Want to look bronzier than you are? Orange will do the trick. I’ve exclusively opted to rotate between Sonia Kashuk’s no.3 , no.4 and the gorgeous Deborah Lippman in Lara’s Theme .

Nails (Hands)

Formula X The Fix

June Favorites 2016

At first I was not that impress with the Formula X The Fix 5-in-1 nail treatment but now I can’t live without it. This makes my hands look polish, with a rosy hue and my nails feel strong. Ordinary nail polish don’t last on my hands (I guess I’m too ruff as I’m always in the woods) so this is the best comprise that I found that does the job.

YSL Touche Éclat Radiant Touch

June Favorites 2016

This is a “Where have you been all my life product”. Mix with my concealer, the result is so beautiful. At first, I was using it alone but it was almost too radiant and pale for my under eye area. The only thing I hate is the applicator: I have to press the push button so many times that when the product comes out, it’s way too much. I got mine from the Sephora Favorites “Chic It Easy” set.

Clarins Opalescence Face & Blush Powder

June Favorites 2016

I totally forgot that I had this stunning blush in my collection! Swirling all the colors together, the result is the most beautiful peachy/nude blush ever. I should look into my stash more often, maybe there are more treasures like this one hiding in some hidden places!

Mac Lipglass in Cherry Cherry Blossom

June favorites3

Personally, glosses are my favourite lip products all year long but, during summertime, glosses are a must! Being a gloss lover, my collection comprises a lot of different shades and high-end brands that make it a little bit hard to choose from. This summer, I mostly wear my Buxom Lip Polish but I also love my Mac Lipglass, especially in the color Cherry Blossom which is a beautiful peachy/rosy, ultra shinny shade that goes with all my makeup look.

Mac Pro Longwear Paint Pots in Perky & Rubenesque

June Favorites 2016

I’ve been enjoying creamy products so much this summer that it’s normal that these two made it in my June favorites. My best shade is really obtained by mixing Perky and Rubenesque together. Simple, easy and very glowy!

Clinique Chubby Stick Sculpting Highling (01 Hefty Highlight)

June Favorites 2016

This comes as a surprise since I didn’t rank this highlight very highly when I purchased it a while back. I usually don’t go crazy on highlights but a touch of this Clinique Chubby Stick Hightlight on my cheekbones and my cupid bow as been a total revelation. Blends effortlessly, the shade is not too overly shinny and it’s oil-free! Love is in the air!!

Hourglass Ambient Light Correcting Primer (Mood Light)

June Favorites 2016

I was not expecting to like this primer so much. The problem I usually have with primers is that somehow, they disturb my foundation around my nose and cheeks, and I can see a separation. Am I the only one who experience this  phenomenon??? Sadly for my wallet, this Hourglass product works like magic on my skin: prime and correct! What’s not to love!

Note: Unfortunately, I don’t see any additional glow with this product!

Thanks for stopping by my beautiful friends xxx
