October Favorites (2016) │Makeup & Skincare

Where did October go? I say this each month but truly, time flies so fast, it’s just unbelievable. While I’m writing this, flurries are falling, our remaining coloured leaves are falling and, my morale is falling!! Our breathtaking autumn decor is a thing of the past and I see winter coming, slowly but oh so surely.

I don’t do favorites each month since honestly, I don’t have that many hardcore picks or new products to show, but when I do, I’m super excited to share them!

October 2016 Favorites (Curly Spring Blossom)

❀Perfect Formula Pink Gel Coat❀

It’s definitely not a new product in the market, but I needed some cheering in our rather dull, grey October and I felt that this pink polish would do miracles on my mood. I tried it and it became my #1 product for my weekly manicure. Since nail polishes usually don’t last a day on my hands, I have been searching for a though, long-lasting, clear formula that could make my nails look polished and brilliant. In addition to its cosmetic properties, this product makes my nails feel stronger and it does last a solid 5 days before I take it off and reapply. A +++

Maison Jacynthe Blush in Juliette

After my first application of this light pink blush, I was hooked. Awesome formula, pigmented enough to look natural and the color is simply perfect. My cheeks look just like I’ve just returned from a brisk walk but better. I haven’t fell for a blush this much in a very long time.

❀bareMinerals Marvelous Moxie Lipgloss in Rebel❀

I rarely hear a soul talking about bareMinerals lip glosses, and you probably won’t see anything in the future about them since, if my informations is correct, bareMinerals are thinking about discontinuing them. It’s sad because the “non-sticky” formula, the taste and the colors are so perfect for a nice daytime look! I will enjoy Rebel ’til its last drop…

Paula’s Choice Resist Brightening Essence

Paula’s Choice Resist Brightening Essence is one of these rare skincare products that would suit every single person, regardless of age or skin types. It perfectly does what the brand claims: it gives a healthy, radiant glow! The texture of my face is now so smooth, I’m addicted. Highly recommended!

Paula’s Choice Radiance Renewal Mask

How convivial is this overnight mask?!? I use it right after my favorite face oil application (these days it’s Fresh Seaberry Moisturizing Face Oil). It kind of seals the oil in, and the next morning, I have a plumped skin and my uneven skin tone looks so much better. You can also apply this mask safely around the eyes (How cool!)…

Note: Since it’s a mask type product, I would suggest that you clean your face in the morning as you do each day since we sweat a lot during our sleeping hours and it’s ideal to clean our face prior to our skincare morning regimen anyway.

April Beauty/Makeup Favorites ❥ 2016

April 2016 Makeup Favorites

April was a month where I rediscovered old favorites. Inspired by spring, the sun over my face, buds in the trees and birds signing, my light-hearted self felt like revisiting « comfy » products. I pushed aside all the products I bought this month (Sephora VIB sale), and went to my sure bets. I already have a few blogs in line to really test all these new acquisitions, and make a thorough review. May should be about all these products the good, the bad and hopefully not the ugly. But for now, let’s focus on April’s sure bets ….

Lise Watier Rivages Eyeshadow Palette

April 2016 Makeup Favorites

In Canada, Lise Watier is one of the best, if not THE prestige Canadian beauty brand. Summer 2015 was all about this Lise Watier Rivages eyeshadow palette and I’m happy to report that, even a year later, this one will still be in my Top 5 for this summer too. The colors are still in vogue and this palette works great, for your casual look to your glamorous style. After a year, the pans look a little crumbly and dry but they still perform wonderfully. I will hit pan on a few of these colors soon!

Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer (Nude)

April 2016 Makeup Favorites

Normally, I’m not fussy about expiration date on beauty products but I’m more careful when it comes to items with sunscreen properties. In my innumerable stash, I found my Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer that expires in June so I’ve been exclusively using it for the last weeks and I have no word to describe how good it is. I’m ashamed to say that I had this Holy Grail for more than a year without even trying it (oops)!! My brand new Nars Tinted Moisturizer is amazingly good but I’m telling you that this one is way better !!! A review is needed ASAP.

Kat Von D Saint Perfume

April 2016 Makeup/Beauty Favorites

Lately, I’ve been going through my perfume collection and by going through, I mean sniffing all of them to do a little well overdue decluttering. My nose brought me to an old favorite: The KVD Saint perfume! Oh! my lord it smells so good … Released in 2012, KVD launches simultaneously Saint, a sweet perfume with plum and sage notes, and Sinner (that I own too)a light delicate aroma combining orange, mandarin and cinnamon. Both perfumes are great but, on a personal note, Sinner unfortunately doesn’t work quite as well on me.  The packaging is clearly KVD inspired with metal and skulls, and the perfume still actual and in style!!!

Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Dolce + Laura Mercier Lip Glacé in Bare Naked

April 2016 Makeup Favorites

I guess I was feeling “nuder” than usual this month! This combo doesn’t seem like it would fit me well with my fair skin but with a colourful eye look, it really comes to life… I thought about combining both products to finish those two before they turn bad… My frugal self is just unable to loose a product and I’m really happy with the result after all!!!

Kevyn Aucoin The Contour .Volume II

April 2016 Makeup Favorites

Kevyn Aucoin The Contour .Volume II is singularly the best thing I bought during last Holidays (such a great value)! Every single item in this contour palette is exquisite. Since there are both creams and powders in this beauty (the only downside of this wonder), I need to really apply myself to use all of the creams because we never know how dry a cream product can become overtime!

Note: If you are not into cream product, try Kevyn Aucoin Sculping Cream and it will blow you away big time!! The product blends so effortlessly, leaving the best natural contour ever. After using that product, it is really though to just think about changing brand for that matter… Hopefully, you do like me and pray for a similar set next Christmas 🙂

Laura Mercier Crème Eye Liner in Cobalt

April 2016 Makeup Favorites

Who said I’m not trendy?!? April gave me a reason to rock a pop of blue in my daily eye makeup (a tiny pop that is)! Laura Mercier, you are my favorite brand for a good reason: your products totally give us an edge. In need of a good eye liner, give this one a try !

Becca Eye Colour in Chantilly & Doeskin

April 2016 Makeup Favorites

I’m so sad that Becca doesn’t make single eyeshadows anymore. Becca’s eye shadow formula is so great; their Ombre Rouge palette is right there in my top favorite palettes!!!

Thanks for stopping by my beautiful friends xxx

The Top 5 Makeup Trends | Spring/Summer 2016

Top 5 Makeup Trends for Spring/Summer 2016

I know, I know!!  We are still in January and I’m already into all the Spring/Summer makeup trends bandwagon. Just reading some snippets about new collections or just looking at pictures form new launches approaching makes me stamp impatiently. I live in winter wonderland and what can I say, I cannot wait for it to be over. But, in 2016, new trends is maybe an overstatement…Let’s face it, everything as been done/tried in the makeup world – we’ve seen it all and looking back at some popular trends, I will just say that some were questionable (dark lip liner and pale nude lips anyone? Or the infamous super white eyelids?)!!!

♥ The 5 top trends for Spring/Summer 2016 ♥

… that I will follow !

♥ Glowing Skin ♥

Capture d’écran 2016-01-22 à 15.07.31

Happy dance right there since I hate a full coverage, cakey type foundation!! Matte is out and welcome luminous finishes. I always been a fan of my skin peaking through even if I obviously have my share of imperfections (acne scars, discoloration & wrinkles to name a few). Since Complexions should look light, delicate and even, a good skincare regimen will be a must to achieve the perfect canvas.

There is the 4 foundations that I want to try…

(Stila Aqua Glow Serum Foundation, YSL Touche Éclat Le Teint, L’Oréal True Match Lumi Cushion, Laura Mercier Candleglow Soft Luminous Foundation)

♥ Strobing (aka Highlight) ♥

Nothing new here you will say but « au contraire »! As much as contouring will still be actual, it will be way more subtle (Instagram coutouring is so Out! Thinking about it, was it ever In on a day to day basis – The answer is NO!!!). Since makeup artists all favor adjectives like “bare”, “dewy”, “glowing”, “soft”, “natural” and “real-looking” to describe the trend for skin in 2016, it’s safe to say that highlighting our face (not just the higher parts of our cheekbones) will be huge.

My 2 favorite products being …

(Hourglass Ambient Strobe Lighting Powder & Laura Mercier Matte Radiance Baked Compact Powder)

♥ Soft Eye looks ♥

Simple eye makeup will be a must this spring; beige or light greys paired with an added pop of colour, mostly in the pinkish/coralish range. It has been described as a “sweeter”, softer trend. Winged eyeliner are out and it will be replace by a romantic eye makeup paired with a ton of mascara or falsies.

Wishful thinking 🙊…

Too Faced Sweet Peach eyeshadow palette 2016

(The Upcoming – Too Faced Sweat Peach)

♥ Glosses & Sheer Lipsticks ♥

Capture d’écran 2016-01-22 à 15.26.28.png

All the matte liquid lipstick that was so HOT for fall/winter 2015 will be replace with soft and super shiny lips (thank you, thank you, thank you)!!! Bold matte lips never worked for me so I welcome this trend with open arms (or should I say open lips 💋). Call me old fashion, but I’m a glossy kind of girl.

My top 3 best formulas are …

(Marc Jacobs Enamored Hi-Shine Gloss Lip Lacquer Lipgloss, Nars Lip Gloss & Buxom Full-on Lip Polish)

♥ Define Brows and Define Cheeks ♥

Capture d’écran 2016-01-22 à 15.30.00.png

As much as «soft» is a key word for spring/summer, it may not characterize the trends for our brows (trend or not, I will ALWAYS define my brows)! They should still make a statement (as long as you know what you are doing – pratice makes perfect believe me). For our cheeks, we should all dust off our bright pink & orange/coral blushes since they will be super trendy. To sum up, the main focus will be on the face & the cheeks.

My top 4 blush picks …

(Nars Blush in Torrid, Becca Mineral Blush in Songbird,Buxom True Hue Blush in Temptation & Urban Decay Arfter Glow 8-Hour Powder Blush in Quickie)

So tempting (for Blondes that is) …

(UD X Gwen Stefani Brow Box)

ornement001

I’m such a happy camper right now. I’m already following these trends so coming spring, I will be an expert! Until then, maybe my makeup look will be a little bizarre for someone who desperately wants to hit pan on its winter products 😉  (Bahahaha)

Do you follow trends or like me, you are into the ones that fit your personality!!!
