Fresh Sugar Face Polish│Review

Project Pan 12 Fall 2016

I can’t believe that it’s already  WEEK 9 of our Project Pan 12; it means three more weeks to go to empty some products and three more weeks using the same freaking products!!! As usual, don’t forget to take a look at my Blogging BFF: Stashy (StashMatters), Jodi (ABrashAttitude) and Chanelle (Chanelle Hayley). This week featured product is the marvelous Fresh Sugar Face Polish. Finding a great face scrub can be tricky but once in a blue moon, you stumble upon one that you really like and surprisingly, it happens to be Fresh Sugar Face Polish .

fresh Sugar Face Polish Review

The claim:

This innovative formula is powered by pure brown sugar, a natural humectant that seals in moisture, to gently buff away dry, dull skin. Real wild strawberries packed with vitamin C help brighten and soothe, while hydrating plum seed oil and grapeseed oil leave the skin soft and supple. An invigorating aroma from a natural blend of citrus oils further enhances the experience.

Availability:

At Sephora: $75Cnd ($62US) for 4.4oz

Pros:

♥ Smells amazing (like strawberry candy),

♥ Non abrasive ( very very gentle) – well suited for even the most sensitive skin,

♥ Doesn’t cause breakouts and doesn’t irritate my skin even when using Retinol and Glycol Acid products simultaneously,

♥ Although pricey (really pricey!!), a jar will last you a very long time,

♥ My face feels super silky afterwards,

♥ I swear, my pores look smaller (or my eyesight is getting worst).

fresh Sugar Face Polish Review

Cons:

♥ The sugar dissolves very quickly,

Note: You have to massage it around your (barely) wet face, leave it on for about 5-10 minutes and then, rinse!

♥ Like I previously said, it’s pricey for a face scrub.

In Summary:

First, this product smells so yummy I could spread it on my toasts (joke – please do NOT ingest). Since Fall brings colder weather and lots of wind, my skin already shows signs of dryness and flakiness; I’ve been applying this scrub three times per week and, abracadabra, the flakes are GONE. I’m so happy, I’m just like a child on a post-Halloween sugar rush: I’ve finally found an exfoliant that works miracles on my acne-prone and very sensitive skin!

Will I repurchase: YES! How could I do without since it’s the best face scrub I’ve ever tried (so far)…

Bobbi To Glow Shimmer Brick Palette Holidays 2016 ❄️ Review

Bobbi Brown Bobbi To Glow Shimmer Brick Palette Review

If you’ve read my VIB Sale WishList, you saw that I dream about the Laura Mercier Fall In Love Face Illuminator Collection but then, at a recent Sephora First Look Event, I stumble upon this Bobbi Brown palette and I fell instantly madly in love with this masterpiece. Since it’s my first encounter with Bobbi Brown’s Shimmer Bricks, this Holiday palette made sense value-wise. For years, I’ve seen rave reviews about these highlights and surprisingly, as much as I live for Laura Mercier, Bobbi Brown on the other hand is a brand that, for some reasons, has eluded me for all those years! So, curiosity killed my wallet, and once again, I couldn’t resist…

Bobbi Brown Bobbi To Glow Shimmer Brick Palette Review

This review is not a first impression; for the last 11 days, I’ve been playing daily with these powders, trying for review purposes, different techniques and ways to apply them. One thing that surprises me is that these highlighters are not buttery whatsoever, in fact they feel almost gritty but they apply like a charm and not patchy (Go figure!).

Note: I think it’s important to specify that my two Holy Grails highlights are Kevyn Aucoin Celestial Powder in Candlelight and Laura Mercier Matte Radiance Baked Powder (01 & 02), so now, you know what my preferences are and my comparatives for this review.

Sephora exclusivity: Limited Edition palette priced at $79Cnd ($69US)

pros

♥ The packaging is classy and gorgeous,

♥ This palette comes with a big mirror and the magnetic closing device is pretty strong,

♥ Great for travelling since it’s sturdy,

♥ This palette is made in Italy,

♥ The normal value of this palette is $137Cnd, a net saving of $58Cnd. Always great  to save a few bucks considering the high-end makeup brands,

♥ These are multipurpose powders since you can use them as highlight, bronzer, blush and even eyeshadows,

♥ A little goes a long way if you are using the right brush! I use my Sephora Pro #93 or Anastasia Beverly Hills #23 brushes, and they work like a charm,

♥ Ridiculously good staying powder; seriously, it stays on my skin all day long and doesn’t budge one bit,

♥ Gives a natural glow (radiance),

♥ Not glittery at all – I look like a clown with glittery highlights,

♥ The colors in detail:

Gold

This first color wasn’t love at first sight; way too gold for my skintone and so unnatural. I was so disappointed, I looked like C3PO…  But then, I tried Bobbi Brown’s way which is to apply this powder on the apple of the cheeks and then, you use a matte blush on top. This method totally changed the way I feel about this shade. Totally stunning!

Wild Rose

Wild rose is a superb blush topper that gives you these glowy cheeks that we all want.

Bobbi Brown Bobbi To Glow Shimmer Brick Palette Review

Bronze

This color will now be a staple in my stash; saying it’s beautiful would be an understatement. It totally bronzed my face and looks spectacular, healthy, bronzy; the glow that it gives is truly unique.

Bobbi Brown Bobbi To Glow Shimmer Brick Palette Review

Note: I’ve tried all three as eyeshadows and inner corner highlights and they are unbelievably great and pigmented. Unlimited combos are possible since each slice is a different color.

Bobbi Brown Bobbi To Glow Shimmer Brick Palette Review

cons

♥ Pricey, even after saving $58,

♥ On my fair skin, these shades are a bit too dark (at least for Fall and Winter),

♥ These powders can amplify fines lines, texture and wrinkles if applied excessively or on wrong areas.

final-thoughts

There are so many highlighting palettes coming out these days that it’s hard to keep up and personally, since I normally apply just a tiny amount, a compact like this will last a lifetime. It’s hard to compare these Shimmer Bricks powders to my regular, preferred highlights because they are in a class of their own, with their versatility and long-lasting properties. Are they better than my usual Holy Grails from Kevyn Aucoin and Laura Mercier? No, simply because they are very different, almost not comparable. To be honest, I don’t see myself using them on a daily basis this Winter but next Spring, I will get so much use out of them. I can’t stretch enough how breathtaking this palette is and how luxurious these powders make my skin look (trendy and younger looking!). I’m so happy with this purchase, and frankly, I’m surprised it’s not already sold out!

Do you like Bobbi Brown Shimmer Bricks?

Sephora 2016 VIB Rouge Renewal Gift Exclusive NARS mini blush

This week, as usual, I received my weekly order from Sephora and inside the box was my VIB Rouge welcome blush. My boyfriend asked me what it was and I told him about this special gift, the VIB concept and so on, and then he said this: “So, you are telling me that this tiny blush is what you get for spending a 1000$”!!! I said: “yes” and he looked at me with disbelief and incomprehension… Priceless !

I may as well die and go to heaven (Do they have makeup there?)! This palette is made for me, period. Bobbi Brown shadows are so great that if you are starting with makeup and you are a Nude color lover then, even at this relatively high price ($235Cnd), you will be set for the next 5 years! It’s cheap if you calculate it this way… Beautiful, stunning!! I want it! Christmas present anyone???
