Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer | Review

Project Pan 12 Fall 2016

Welcome to  WEEK 11 of our Project Pan 12; ONE more week to empty my remaining products and for today’s featured item, I concede defeat; there is no way I’ll finish this primer!!!

As always, be sure to look at my Blogging partners in this year’s PP: Brainy Stashy (StashMatters), Sassy Jodi (ABrashAttitude) and Delightful Chanelle (Chanelle Hayley). This week’s featured product is the cult favourite Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer; a still very full cult favourite Hourglass…

Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer Review

The claim:

This clean, satin-finish formula helps keep makeup looking fresh and prevents fading. Veil Mineral Primer also absorbs excess oils and minimizes the appearance of pores by evenly distributing light to help hide and soften the look of skin imperfections and fine lines.

This water-resistant primer is also 100 percent free of fragrance, oil, paraben and gluten.

Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer Review

Availability:

At Sephora: $24Cnd ($19US)to $87Cnd ($75US) depending of the size (0.33oz, 1oz or 2oz)

Pros:

♥ Perfect for the T-Zone as it really blurs my pores and creates a splendid canvas,

♥ This product is waterproof/sweat proof,

♥ Doesn’t cause any breakouts or any irritation on my sensible skin,

♥ Makes my skin feel so soft and perfect for my makeup,

♥ This formula is one of the few that doesn’t emphasize dry patches,

Vegan & cruelty-free.

Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer Review

Cons:

♥ Pricier than most primers but you need just a little bit, as it blends effortlessly,

♥This primer doesn’t extend my makeup, I have maybe 1 or 2 hours of extended makeup wear before my foundation starts to break down,

♥ After a year in my stash, the formula’s consistency changed, so use it preferably within 6 months to one year after purchase (or buy a smaller format).

Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer Review

In Summary:

Normally, a primer serves two purposes: filling fine lines and smoothing pores, and keeping your makeup fresh all day. This product excels at masking those small defects, but for extending makeup durability, the effects are just not apparent. I absolutely love this primer but unfortunately it doesn’t pair well with my bareMinerals Complexion Rescue Gel that I have been obsessed with for the last 6 months. The two don’t match for some reasons. I’ve neglected this primer so much so that it’s still full. I’m so addicted to my bareMinerals foundation, that choosing this Hourglass Mineral Primer for this Project was maybe an error on my part; I just couldn’t let go of my bareMinerals. Shame on me !!!

Will I repurchase: YES! I’m rating this product 8,5/10. This is a solid primer and the hype is justified. Like I said, I would suggest buying a smaller format since you need so little and to be sure that it doesn’t go bad on you!

Project Recap…

Very happy with this Project Pan! Out of the 12 chosen products, I will have finish nine!!! (Happy Dance)…  With one week to go, it will be a breeze. I just think of all my other products winking at me, waiting to be used (or wanting to make THE list for my next Project Pan). Products have feelings too … 😉

Bio-Oil ✰ Project Pan 12 Fall 2016

Project Pan 12 Fall 2016

Welcome to Week 4 (already 1 month, unbelievable how time flies) of our Project Pan 12 Fall 2016 Edition. As usual, the knowledgeable Stashy (StashMatters), the cruelty-free Queen Jodi (ABrashAttitude) and the lovely Chanelle (Chanelle Hayley) are also collaborating in this project!

This week’s feature product is Bio-Oil PurCellin Oil! Used it continuously for the last 4 weeks for body and face, but with very different outcomes …

Bio Oil Review

Availability:

Nearly every drugstores and big retail chains

Pros:

♥ Easy to find,

♥  Very moisturizing,

♥ Very mild and delicate scent.

Bio Oil Review

Cons:

♥ Broke me out the two times I’ve applied it on my face,

♥ The “supposed breakthrough ingredient”, known as PurCellin oil, is derived from ducks (it’s the substance ducks secrete to keep their feathers waterproof – gross)!!

♥ Take at least half an hour to dry.

♥♥ Update: The last two days, I’ve had some allergic reactions with this product. I’ve seen some small bumps on my skin, and I’ve had some itchiness all over my body !

Note: Unfortunately, since it broke me out in my first week, I can’t validate the company advertised claim that this oil is good for uneven skin tone and is anti-aging.

Will I repurchase? NEVER (A Huge NO). Allergic reactions added with pimples and acne on my skin = a new oil, great for anti-aging and to moisturize my garbage bags…

Project Recap…

I was certain that at the end of September, I would have finish a couple of products, but I was wrong… I’m really surprised at how long it takes to actually finish products. Oh! well at the end of October, I should have emptied at least half of my eleven products (wishful thinking!), since one has been emptied in my garbage can😜…

Lise Watier Teint Lumière Foundation ✰ Review

Lise Watier Teint Lumière Review

Week 1 of Project Pan 12 and the panning by itself is going great; I like my 12 products and seriously, it makes my life so much easier to know in advance which products to use on a day-to-day basis. Obviously, I didn’t empty any product yet but things are going according to plan. After a week,  I find myself loving some and others, not so much. The first item on my list is a fantastic product, maybe unknown to most of you, but it may be time to introduce all its qualities and share this Canadian brand to all my readers.

➤➣ Don’t forget to go have a look at week 1 of Stashy (StashMatters) and Jodi (ABrashAttitude)!!!

Note: As always, with any foundation review, I’ve listed my skin type/concerns  at the end of this post.

Availability

Lise Watier website : $40Cnd for 0.88oz (a little less than the standard 1oz)

Lise Watier is well-known in the province of Quebec since the founder herself is from our little part of the country. To support Mrs. Watier and her company, all our major retailers and most of our drugstores carry the brand. Also widely available in France, Belgique and US via Naimie’s, Beautylish and some other retailers.

Note: Lise Watier is now owned by Groupe Marcelle

From the website

The Teint Lumière foundation offers ultra-light and adjustable coverage. In addition to its exceptional comfort, this foundation is like an invisible second skin – undetectable even in the light of day. Formulated with the Diamond Lumière Complex, it blends into skin to even out and illuminate the complexion while protecting it from the sun. The dropper dispenses a specifically measured quantity of the formula for optimal efficiency. The equivalent of one pump is sufficient for the entire face.

Paraben-free. Fragrance-free. Oil-free.

Lise Watier Teint Lumière Review

pros

✰ Available in 12 shades,

✰ One pump is truly sufficient for an entire face, so a little goes a long way!

✰ Light to medium coverage (personally, full coverage is not flattering for my skin; I feel like it ages me and I don’t really aim for that result when I use makeup!!!),

✰ Doesn’t break me out!

✰ The finish is soft and lustrous without ever looking greasy (I do have to blot once during the day with a setting powder)

✰ Doesn’t emphasize my fines lines or pores,

✰ It doesn’t oxidize,

✰ Long wearing – it only starts to break after 8 hours,

✰ Super lightweight, it feels good on my skin … No cakeyness to report,

✰ This foundation can be mixed perfectly with any other foundation in your collection; it gives a nicer finish to all the dull ones that we unfortunately have in our stash and that sit there, unused,

Made in France,

Lise Watier is a cruelty-free brand.

cons

✰ Only SPF 15 is not enough. When choosing a foundation, I prefer a greater sun protection factor when it’s already included in the product. If insufficient, it serves no real purpose and I’m forced to apply another sunscreen product.

✰ Since it’s a glass bottle, it may not be travel friendly.

final thoughts

Lise Watier Teint Lumière Foundation gives an extremely pure, radiant glow to your skin, perfect if you like a natural finish. The formula doesn’t feel like drying your skin, to clog pores, or cause any breakouts. In fact, it’s the perfect opposite: it surprisingly feels to have a moisturizing effect on the skin. I usually apply this foundation with a beauty sponge but I also tried it with a brush and with my fingers, and the result was still beautiful. From a mature skin point of view, these serum-type formulas are very flattering and again, truly rejuvenating. Is it a buildable foundation? Yes, but it’s made to use for a light/medium coverage.

Will I repurchase? Yes but I should go for the 01 shade instead of 02! I always see myself a bit darker than I really am but I should know better…

My skin type/concern are :

Combination with some dry patches,

I do have fine lines (borderline wrinkles) as I’m over 35,

I suffer from some facial discolouration and sun spots,

I’m VERY acne-prone and I have enlarged pores on the nose and cheeks,

All in all, you could say that my face is a combination of the moon’s surface and an old potato …

Shade = Fair or light

If you add the light skin maybe in the future, call me Mrs. Pringles !!!
